I had a pair of Bose SIE2i earbuds and the Freestyle Earbuds are essentially the same thing, just in a different package that has been vastly improved. The Freestyle earbuds rely on the same Triport drivers as the SIE2, SIE2i, MIE2, and MIE2i earbuds so they have the exact same sound quality. People who enjoyed those previous four models will continue to enjoy these. The bass isn't blown out and almost equal attention is given to the lows, mids, and highs. I say "almost" as more attention is given to the highs compared to the mids but it's still more balanced than previous Bose entries (i.e. before the previous four models). These use the same StayHear tips as all the other IE2 earbuds which I have always found to be extremely comfortable. I can wear these earbuds all day without any physical issues and they don't fall out. My biggest issue with most earbuds, especially the ones that have to create a seal with your ear canal, is that they never stay in. They always end up popping out after 10-30 minutes of listening. I also don't like those types of earbuds try to completely seal out surrounding noise. It makes me uncomfortable walking or being in the gym without hearing some of my surroundings. These, just like all the other IE2 earbuds from Bose, let in just the right amount of ambient noise. All-in-all, these continue to be the most comfortable earbuds I have ever worn and that's in comparison to a bunch of different models from Sony, Beats (like the Tour 2.0's), Apple, and Skullcandy.

The design improvements are found in a couple of different areas. First, I always thought the cable length for the MIE2 and MIE2i earbuds was just about right but the SIE2 and SIE2i had cords that were way too short.

I've never written a review before, but these headphones make me so happy I decided the Amazon community should know about them.

As a college student, I basically take headphones everywhere I go and they go through A LOT. I've gone through countless pairs of cheap headphones and finally received these as a gift. Admittedly I never knew much about sound quality and all that jazz but now I can definitely see why people drop money on quality headphones because these took my listening experience to another level. The sound is really rich and they pick up details in songs that I completely oblivious to before. The ear piece is wonderful for my tiny ear canals (I use the small size) and they are definitely not as obnoxious as straight-up earbuds are (I really hate those), these sit nicely in your ear to where they are comfortable and not going to fall out. I would definitely recommend these to anyone, and they make a perfect gift.

I purchased this buds specially for my Samsung Note 8 and LG G3. I have had Bose IE series for years, but one of the complaints is lacking volume control for Android devices.
I have several Samsung buds with mic+remote and tested them with LG G3 and all buttons work. Naturally, this buds remote works with LG G3 and now I don't have to take the phone out just for adjusting volume.
Out of curiosity, I tested the buds with different brands and models and found out it works with Sony (not Sony Ericsson) phones (I tested it with Xperia Ion) and everything works perfectly. The following models I tested and works as well
LG G2, G Flex, L90, Nexus 5
ZTE Max
I did not test Motorola phone because T-Mobile does not sell any.
Unfortunately, this bud does not work with HTC M8.
If you want a Bose buds and you want all buttons work with Samsung, LG, and Sony phones, buy it.

-----edit-----

After some more tests, I found this bud works with the follow brands:
Samsung (Android and Windows Phone)
Sony (Z Ultra, Xperia Ion, Z2)
Nokia (Windows Phone models
LG (G2, G3, G Flex, L90)
Unfortunately, the following brands will not work:
Asus tablets
Motorola
Alcatel
BLU
HTC

First of all I wou like to mention that a lot of reviews on Amazon are "Review for free product" and all of them just inflating the rating of the product. As old time Amazon customer I no not like it. Because now you can't trust a product rating.
Back to headphones review. I got these as a treat for my self and would like to say that the quality of sound these put out is out of this world.
BUT after only a few months of very lite use (once a week) the rubber wire coating started to peel off! Live wires started to show where wires connect to control unit, earpieces, and phone jack. First I lost the microphone, next - left earpiece sound disappeared.
Seriously BOSE, I expect better from you!
I did tons of research online and found out that a lot, I mean A LOT, of people are having the same issue! People called customer service and got offered a 50% discount or got contacted from BOSE customer service directly and got 50% discount for removing their blog posts and reviews from online forums and product review websites.
I wasn't going to to write this review, but today I saw these "bought" reviews, the ones for free product. That was the last straw. So basically BOSE is buying votes on Amazon and people are left with rigged ratings.

Here are some links that show the issue.
