3.0 out of 5 stars awesome sound...but mine didn't hold up, April 20, 2009
This review is from: Bose T1 ToneMatch Audio Engine Mixer
Make no mistake, this is a state of the art mixer which outputs amazing sound. However, after owning and using this for 10 months as a professional musician, it froze in a blank-blue-screen, and stayed that way. The screen and dials were lit up as if the unit was working, but it was frozen and the screen was totally blank. No amount of 're-booting' helped. I was at a gig at the time, and it was a very bad situation. (understatement) Bose, to their credit, is replacing it with a new one, but I don't think I will trust it to be my sole mixer anymore. Shame.

4.0 out of 5 stars BEST Mixer I've Ever Owned!, October 22, 2008
By
Kova (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bose T1 ToneMatch Audio Engine Mixer
I've had over a dozen mixers in my life and the Bose T1 is by far the best I've ever owned.

The Pros:
It has the best Pre Amps I've ever heard! Same quality you would find in many high end studios.
It replaces a rack full of processors I no longer need including a guitar tuner.
It's extremely compact, light weight and almost fits into the palm of your hand.
It can hang on a Mic stand which I believe is the only mixer to do that.
It's user friendly and a novice can run it.
You can record with the built in USB straight into a computer without an interface.
It can be used with ANY brand of speakers and not just Bose.
It can save your settings, removing the need to "re-EQ" everything when you play the same room twice. This is a HUGE time saver.
Bose has software on their web site that lets you "back up" all your settings in case your T1 gets broken or stolen. This is an invaluable feature.
It's reasonably priced considering everything you would have to buy separately for the same set up.

The Cons:
It doesn't come with a power supply. Bose makes you buy it separately.
It doesn't have FireWire.
It needs more Mic inputs.
It runs in Stereo but there's NO Panning.
Running a monitor mix through the AUX is not user friendly.

I give it 4 out of 5 stars because of the Cons. Otherwise, it's light years ahead of the competition and there's nothing else out there like it. It's in a class of it's own.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wish it had stereo outs., September 20, 2011

GOOD POINTS

The Bose T1 ToneMatch packs a great amount of effects and control into a small unit. You can do 10 separate presets on 4 channels which makes it great for doing duets with other musicians where everyone can have their own effect on their own signals. The back lit screen and buttons make it perfect for those low light gigs. It even has a cool setting to mic a kick drum...although I haven't tested this setting yet. It makes a voice and acoustic guitar sound GREAT. I can fit my guitar, Bose L1 Compact, T1 ToneMatch, and necessary stands and cables, on my motorcycle to gigs. Bose technology is GREAT!

IMPROVEMENTS

1) The included holding bracket is made for the L1 Model 1 and 2 systems. I have a "L1 Compact" which it won't mount to. My other option is to mount it to a mic stand, but it sounds like the Bose stand accessory doesn't work very well. I used rip-ties and MADE the included bracket work on a mic stand.

2) It would be great if the T1 had "Pan" capabilities on each channel along with stereo outs from the board. If so, you could run a stereo mix to two separate L1 systems. As it is....you have a mono out from the board and all you can do is daisy-chain two L1 systems together which yields a mono mix all the way around.

3) It does NOT come with the AC adaptor. You will need it to run with the L1 Compact.
