3.0 out of 5 stars Good Brackets, lousy anchors and directions
Very nice brackets in that they are nice and small and not too pricey(if you avoid buying direct from Bose). The directions weren't very good and the wall anchors are total overkill if you are using them for a Lifestyle system. The anchors are 3/8 inch and you would pretty much have to take down a wall to get all four in together(in fact the anchors would overlap in the...

This review is from: Bose UB-20 Wall/Ceiling Bracket (each) - WHITE (Electronics)
These speaker brackets are specifically designed for the following Bose speakers:

Acoustimass®
Lifestyle®
3*2*1®
Freestyle®

Having recently purchased the Bose Acoustimass 10 Series III Home Theater Speaker System, it quickly became clear to me that the UB-20W wall/ceiling speaker brackets were the only choice when it came to conserving space. As a whole, given the instructions, a power drill, a 7/32" drill bit and a Phillips head screwdriver, the installation of these speaker brackets was quick and simple.

One note of caution though, the instruction booklet calls for a ¼" drill bit for drilling the holes for the plastic anchors that are supplied with the kit, a ¼" drill bit is just a tad too large and will cause you to send the plastic anchor right on through the wall, never to be seen again. A 7/32" drill bit is perfect for this job!

I highly recommend these wall/ceiling brackets if you're looking at purchasing any of the above listed Bose speakers. They're perfect for the job and, providing you purchase the white or black ones depending on your walls, seamlessly fit right in, not to be noticed. {ssintrepid}

4.0 out of 5 stars Great mount; verify the screw size, September 28, 2008

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I took a chance with these as my speakers are not Bose. The mount is great (with a neat pivot mechanism), but I had to get some additional hardware to rig my speakers up to them. The machine screw in the bracket is 10-32, but my speaker needed a 1/4-20 machine screw. Too bad the screw size wasn't in the specs, but I doubt Bose owners need to worry about it. The mounts look good now, but I would suggest caution if your speakers don't take the same size screw.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bose UB-20 Installation, January 12, 2007
I found that these brackets worked best for installing my Bose Satellite speakers in that they gave you an option of mounting them on the wall or ceiling and with or without extender arms. I looked at generic brackets and discovered that they did not complement the speakers I had as do these.

There are a few points about these worth noting. They are hands down, the best looking brackets and the easiest to attach the Bose speakers to. The speakers virtually "float" where they are placed. In my case, the room was pre-wired with the leads poking through 3/8" holes in the drywall in the exact future speaker positions. If you are planning to do the same, a word of advice: Have your building contractor fasten a 2x4 or 2x6 cross member between the studs or bulkhead structure in those exact spots where the speakers will be and thread the wires through a hole drilled in those cross members. Here's why - if you do not support with wood behind the mounts you will have to use the 4 butterfly bolts (included) to mount on the drywall. The mount holes are grouped in approx. a 2" square and you must drill a 1/2" hole for each bolt. Get the picture?? Add to the equation the 3/8" hole for the wire and it's obvious that you must make the 4 holes for the mount 2 or 3 inches away from the wire hole or the area will become too weak to hold the weight of everything! So... reinforce the spots, use the wood screws instead and you should be able to park the bracket almost on top of the wire hole or close enough that the plastic cover plate will hide the wires. A much neater job in the end and you don't have to tell anyone that you read this hot tip so you can take the genius credit...

Tip #2 These little babies are highly overpriced in retail stores ($35-$40 each) so do wallet a favor and buy them on line here for about $18.50ea. plus free shipping for orders over $50.

Tip #3 If you are pre-wiring for 5.1 or 7.1 surround, go to a Bose store and invest $40 in their custom wall plug. It's slick and will save you a huge amount of time when hooking it all up!

As for the Bose sound, they do satellite speaker systems better than anyone. I found that I had to do a fair bit of manual individual channel tweaking and EQ until I was happy with the overall sound.

4.0 out of 5 stars just as described!, September 28, 2008
These really add a professional look to our system. My only complaint is they are not adjustable after attaching them - you have to tilt them beforehand - I do think they help the speaker sound by directing their angle. And they were cheaper here then through Bose website

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product., June 23, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I finally got around this weekend to running the speaker wire and installing the mounts. I used the ceiling mount configuration. Switching the hardware from wall mount to ceiling mount was easy. Instructions were very clear and thorough. The only issue I had with them is once they are up you can't change the configuration of the post since the screw is behind the plate to do so. So you have to remove the bracket completely ( if you used the toggle bolts you need to get new toggle bolts ), unscrew the post and then screw it back in and remount the plate.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bose UB-20 wall speaker brackets, February 18, 2008
Brackets work as advertised and were easy to install. Amazon was the right choice for this purchase, I saved $17 on each mount. Don't buy frome BOSE if you can avoid it. They overcharge for almost everything the sell. Amazon is the best alternative I have found. Shipping was also fast and hassel free.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great speaker mounts pain in the butt to mount!, October 3, 2010
These are high quality mounts and once installed are very very nice, However it is a challange to mount the bigger size speakers to it once it is attached to the wall. the cubs will not be a problem and most likely the 3.2.1. or the 2.1 gems will be fine as well but the normal 3.2.1 or 2.1 speakers are bigger and thus does not let you turn it fully to get a screw driver in to screw the speaker to the mount. I ended up having to use a a small ratchet screw driver to get it. They look great and help with the sound and are worth the effort but take notice that the standard speakers will require a screw driver bit and some pliers or the tool I used that you can buy very cheap you can buy this from amazon as well.......Lisle 64250 Right Angle Ratcheting Screwdriver
