Detachable Faceplate

The front face plate detaches and you can carry it with you.

Front Auxiliary In

On the front of the 506CA is an input labeled “AUX”, which allows the input of audio signals for MP3 players, headphones, and portable music players.

Output Power: 40 Watts x 4 Channels

The 506CA offers four channels that can be used to hook up four speakers. Typically though, it is a much better practice to have an amplifier running your system.

1–Bit D/A Converter

A digital-to-analog converter is a device that converts a digital code to an analog signal. Most modern audio signals are stored in digital form (for example MP3s and CDs) and in order to be heard through speakers they must be converted into an analog signal. DACs are therefore found in CD players, digital music players, and PC sound cards.

Not a bad sounding system when used with the cd player or MP3 input, but forget about the radio. Will not stay tuned!

Installation instructions clear and easy to install but the Boss is not worth the time it took to install. Sound is tinny and weak (40 watts per channel?) Radio is hard to tune and won't stay on the station. Controls are manual, no presets, and hard to see. Should have spent more money and got a better unit.

My old cd player broke and I was looking for a cheap replacement. This suits my purpose great sound at reasonable price. Haven't had problems with radio staying tuned but I have only had it for a few a days now so will see......

It's not a digital tuner, it's an analog tuner with a digital display. There are no presets, and the tuning knob is so difficult to turn that it's impossible to accurately tune in a station. Amazingly, once you've found a station, the radio will occasionally untune itself slightly. Fortunately, it uninstalls almost as easily as it is installed.

You cannot beat this item for the price. Gives out alot of power and my IPOD hooks directly into the unit. I installed this onto my boat a few weeks ago.

I purchased the BOSS 506CA from ANTonline, through Amazon.com. As soon as I had it installed. I noticed that the stations had so much static, that I couldn't hear the station. The stations would also jump ramdomley and I had to constantly change the time on the clock. When I contacted ANTonline, they refused to honor the warranty, saying that one of the reason being, that the product was already installed. Dah! How would anyone know if it works unless it was installed. Bad product and bad customer service on the behalf of ANTonline.

I purchased this particular BOSS Audio CD receiver recently and found everything in working order right up until installation. Granted I didn't take the unit somewhere for a professional installation, but I've been doing it myself for years with multiple cars and have never had any trouble.

To preface, I drive a convertible Miata and wanted a cheap, functional, head unit with, if possible, an Aux input for my Droid phone. That's the sole reason for picking this sorry unit outy in the first place.

Upon installation, I unscrewed the nut from the bolt to ground the stereo and the bolt fell back into a recess where the only possible way to retrieve it was through physically opening the stereo up and thus voiding the warranty. Never have I had that issue with a stereo before. My fault, but a little more intelligent construction would have been nice.

Then, after sitting on my kitchen table for an hour while I connected all wires and built the mount itself, I found that the detachable faceplate had warped and wouldn't connect to the actual unit. I finally got it together but then today, the second post-installation day, it gave out and wouldn't connect period, to do anything- turn on, eject the CD, etc.

Upon calling the customer service number, I was greeted with several minutes of holding while recorded ads for a suspicious-sounding 1-900 service played.

As far as the stereo goes: Low quality. The buttons are NOT pleasant to push, are ordered randomly and confusingly across the console, light up but don't illuminate the label telling what each button actually does, and are junk. The stereo puts out only a teensy bit of power, so you have to crank it to max. volume to barely discern what's going on in the music(even while parked!

Its not a good radio at all buyer beware..... the right channel blew out after the first day of having it hooked up. Plus its only 40 watts. Not worth the scratch. Take my word for it you will be pissed if you buy this.
