The Perfect Amplified Sub
Amplified subwoofer systems make it easy to get great bass. These enclosures are precision designed and matched to the subwoofer for optimum bass response. Integrated Amplifier
The integrated amplifier in the BASS600 pumps out 400 Watts RMS (600 max) through its eight-inch speaker, and features a low pass crossover (adjustable from 20 to 150Hz) and a subsonic filter (adjustable from 20 to 50Hz), as well as a control for adjusting the input sensitivity from 0.2V to 6V.

Speaker and RCA Level Inputs
Both high level (speaker level) and low level (RCA type) inputs are present, making this a universal solution for use with any head unit or other input source.

Remote Control Module
For further flexibility in using your sub, a variable bass boost control is included--control the subwoofer level with the remote control module.

Protection Circuitry
The BASS600's amplifier incorporates special protection circuitry which will disable the amplifier if input overloads, short circuits, or extreme temperatures occur.

A couple years ago I put an Alpine 9845 and a set of 4, 6.5 inch, Boston Acoustics speakers in my Dodge Dakota. It is a regular cab, small pickup truck so there isn't much room to improve the sound system. The system I installed sounded pretty good but lacked low end. At the time, there were no good sub woofer solutions that would fit in the cab and allow the seats to adjust to a comfortable position.

I found this unit on while looking to see if anything new was available and small enough. This and the Kenwood unit seemed like they would fit but this one is smaller with a larger driver. The very small housing will rob a lot of the bass volume produced by the 8" driver but an 8" will always produce a deeper bass than the 6.5" found in the Kenwood. The install was easy and typical. Run the power, ground, remote on signal and a pair of RCA's to the amp/sub combo. There are a good selection of controls on the unit to tailor the sound to your system. The remote gain is not needed unless you need it. My head unit has an adjustable output for sub signal so I tossed it out. A little bit of adjustment and I had it balanced nicely with the 6.5's.

It has a little more power than I needed but not much. I wasn't looking for mind numbing bass. I listen to rock mainly and wanted something that would fill out the bottom end. It does add a nice kick and rumble you can feel. With the 45 watts x 4 channel output of the head unit, it works quite well with a little power to spare. It is a good unit if you are looking to balance the sound in the small cab of a Dodge Dakota. The sub/amp combo it is so small I could fit two more behind the seats. I only gave it 4 stars because the stated 600 Watts is a little deceptive if you don't know what you are buying.

Put one of these in a 1990 Corvette, I was amazed at how many features the Boss unit had, and how easy it was to install. That said, this was the perfect choice for me, sure I've had the serious 4-12" sub type setups in the past when I could still hear, and thats not what your going to get from this. If your looking to add some bass, and to fill out tones all the way down to 20Hz for just a great sounding system I would recommend this unit. I have had experience with other powered subs, this by far is the best for the price. You won't have the plunk sound from cranking the system up that you get from most units like this, my other speakers give out before this does. And yes I did say that this will get you response all the way down to 20Hz! Amazing performance from a package this size. my opinion is that Boss hit a home run with this one.

I installed this in my Focus along with an upgraded HU and speakers. The install was easy and the amp survived my original wiring of pos into neg and neg into pos. The fault light came on and reinstalling the wires was all that was needed.
It's under my passenger seat now but loosely. I'm still thinking about the best place for it. The sub requires some breaking in. Initially, there was a bit of boominess in various notes and a lack of definition. Playing a jazz trio with an acoustic bass seems to have developed it's potential. Simply put, it's all there.
The music is Keith Jarrett at the Blue Note: The Complete Recordings Every song has a bass solo and I hear every note and string pluck clearly, except when road noise interferes but that's another story. This is a very gifted trio and and a very well recorded set. The drumming is terrific with the kick drums coming through with authority.
Honestly, this music was terrific before the BASS600 but it's incredible how much better it is with the sub. The boominess has all but gone. Maybe some kind of spikes would help as it sits on carpet.
Very well built and solid like a brick, All in all, a very musical sub. I use the remote volume control and it is about 3 clicks from 0 so I doubt I will burn this one out soon. I have pumped up the volume and it was pretty overwhelming in my small car and pointless for my needs. The blue light on the control also makes for a decent map reader. It's loose on a long cable and sometimes comes in handy.
Highly recommended!
