When my decades old Seth Thomas metronome sprung its spring, it was time to move in to the new century. Based on multiple reviews of this instrument and others, I opted for this (and I got the power supply, too, to save batteries). Even though I have not yet used all of the powerful features of this metronome, I love everything about it thus far. It is easy to use. It adjusts in multiple ways, making it fully adaptable to the way and volume level that works best for me to hear and keep the beat. After only a couple of times, I found that I can easily make any adjustments with one hand - not needing to wrangle with the metronome in order to get the setting I need. And I love the "tap" feature that lets me choose the tempo without dialing to the exact beats per second setting. I would highly recommend this fine instrument to any one who is serious about practice.

This is the third version of this product that I have purchased over the last 15 years. It is an excellent teaching tool for me as well as my flute students.
The talking beats, rhythmic subdivisions, meter choices, and dialing tempi make it simple to use. I highly recommend this metronome to all teachers and musicians who can afford it.

Best Metronome,

Great metronome. It's a little bulky to carry around, but it's worth it because it does everything to help make your practicing more efficient.
The Metronome has 4 different 'voices' (one is a human voice), pitch generator that plays any pitch in multiple octaves, and easy access to subdivision. The subdivision buttons can do strong beats, off beats, sixteens, triplets, or any combination. In addition, it has the capability to be programed for your unique beat pattern, and much, much more!

I bought this as a gift for my husband to use when playing his trumpet -- yes, he asked for a Dr. Beat. All I can say is he loves it. He says he can hear the beat while playing, which says a lot because the trumpet is loud. He also likes the feature that allows him to check his tuning and to match sounds.

Does everything you could ever dream in a metronome (except Midi out) :/
Buy one! It's especially good with a DAW cuz you can sync it with midi and then have a nice metronome you can plug into a headphone mixer!

Our band loves rehearsing and practicing with Dr. Beats. The drum patterns are a lot easier to keep time to than single beats. It has an amazing group of beat patterns. On the back of Dr. Beats patterns from bossa nova to shuffle can be found. Tempo changes? Just press the tempo button and dial in the correct tempo. Or use the built in mic to create a tempo while playing your instrument.

The unit works well. A very valuable tool especially for its counting features. Much better than a simple metronome with simple clicks and flashing LEDs.

From the moment I first tried this "metronome" out, I fell in love with it. I am a late-life beginner/intermediate level bass player with a very serious attitude toward learning to play.
As with most products, there are a few things more that I would like to be able to do with this, such as be able to create your own rhythms in "pattern" mode. Also, it would be nice if it it had MIDI out. But wait! it's a METRONOME not a drum machine. My playing has already improved in the short time I have been using it. Great product!! Bring the jam!!

This is a great little item, and much better than a regular metronome. But it goes through 9 volt batteries rather quickly, so I'd recommend getting an a/c adapter for it right off the bat...

Too confusing to me to use. But my daughter wanted this exact model as she pursues her college degree in music. As for me... I have a few much cheaper tools to use... my ears to tune.. and my heart for the beat.
