Purchased this in December of '09 and after only 3 months the pneumatic lift broke. I was sent a replacement lift but after sitting in it 3 months it is impossible to get the other one out. I weigh 340 so am within it's limits

I like having a big mans chair.Things that would make it better: Movable arms - the arms dig into my legs More padding for the bottom - sitting for more than 30-45 minutes and I start to feel the metal plate.

I have owned this chair for about a year. All is good however one arm rest is coming apart which is not a deal breaker. The chair comfort is good and the it is strong, I am 300 lbs and no problem supporting me. If you are big this is the chair for you.

This is one fine chair, and perfect for my size. I've put together a number of chairs, and was amazed at how ridiculously easy this one went. And it is very comfortable..UPDATE: Have used for 6 months now, and this chair is still comfortable. I weigh under 350, so the weight should be fine. But, the pneumatic lift doesn't make the grade. I can raise it to full height standing next to it, but as soon as I sit in the chair it sinks all the way down to the bottom. This is not really a defect as such, but poor information for the consumer, and NOT an Amazon problem.. I would imagine this chair is not meant to be sat in for more than a short while each day, and I'm using way more than that. I'm selling this one to a friend, and getting one from Living XL. It's rated at 1,000 pounds and has a screw base lift. It costs a good deal more, but it should last close to forever.

Great for a tall slightly big person.,

I'm 6'4 and fluctuate between 200-240, and this chair works great for me. Ive had it at work for close to 2 years now with no issues. Going to order another one today for home use. I'm a computer programmer so I spend A LOT of time at my desk, and it's held up great, still comfortable after 2 years.

Strong Chair,

I read the previous reviews and thought I'd share my experience with the Big Man's chair. Because of my work I can easily wear down 4 cheap high-back desk chairs in a year. I got sick of buying them and I bought this in 2008 from another vendor and it's still holding strong in 2011.I'm usually not a fan of arms but these are smooth and I got used to them. By my own fault I cracked the plastic covering on both sides and had to wrap the arms in electrical tape though that hasn't ruined the integrity of the chair. I love the design because it has supports for larger people in places where the cheap chairs don't. For example, the same steel used to support the arm rests wrap around to support the back of the chair and the bottom (all one piece) so you don't have to worry about it suddenly snapping back in half. The legs are made of steel and the wheels are reinforced by it so no broken legs if you have to lean to one side for a moment to reach for something. I ripped the cloth in one corner (I don't abuse my furniture I swear) and see that there's wooden boards and a thin sheet of metal to make the frame. The padding is quite firm, almost like packing foam for electronics. If you're someone with uh, "cushion" then you'll be comfortable. Taller, leaner people may desire to put something softer under or behind them. I'm not sure what the other reviewers are doing to break their chairs within 6 months. I can't comment on the lift since I keep mine in the lowest position. I suggest not plopping down so much because that could wear down any hydrolic. Every so often I flip this bad boy over and check the screws in case they need to be tightened and usually they're fine. Be warned, this puppy is HEAVY. Wheeling around is easy and I haven't had any issues with the weight limit (340). It's a few inches too wide to fit under my desk but, eh beats buying 8 chairs in 2 years. I wish there was a leaning feature but I've killed chairs that way in the past. Anyway this is a strong chair, I happily haven't had to buy a new one in years. |
