Simple and Elegant,

Among the late Charlie Byrd's many albums and CD's, I still find this one the most satisfying. No orchestra, no over-production--just great material and the guitarist confidently trading solos with Ken Peplowski on tenor sax or clarinet. Byrd's distinctive, harmonically-inventive readings of these Jobim and Bonfa classics should appeal especially to amateur musicians (like myself) seeking to explore the potential of the nylon-string guitar. Highly recommended.

Charlie Byrd Revisited,

I haven't received this CD yet, but I have the paper-thin albums of these renditions. I have been a Charlie Byrd fan for many years, and will continue to be.If you love latin rhythms, if you love the sound of a sweet and mellow guitar, you are in for a treat. Every song is a thing of beauty before Charlie finishes it. If you are already a fan, this is a wonderful way to preserve those beautiful songs, and his beautiful renditions. I am so glad I can revisit my favorite guitarist!

Simply....beautiful,

Bossa nova standards where every note from every musiciancounts with no orchestra to detract from the simple beauty of each. You will be familiar with most of these songs, esp. those written by Jobim, from Byrd's other albums but, to your surprise in many cases, you may find yourself preferring these renditions.

This is BY FAR the best bossa album I own and I own a lot of 'em. Just wonderful wonderful wonderful listening... There's no one I know to whom I wouldn't recommend. Parents in their 80s or kids in their teens. This is what music is all about. Own a copy. Or two.

I love most Charlie Byrd album, but this one isn't one of my favorites. The saxophone is intrusive (unlike Byrd's collaboration with Scott Hamilton) and detracts from Byrd's virtuoso guitar playing.

Every track on this CD is fabulous. Great interpetation of original Brasilian music that brings the real sounds, feel, and romantic spirit of the country to life.
