I'm Bossy, June 8, 2006
This review is from: Bossy (Audio CD)
At first I wasn't really feeling this song. After hearing it a time or two it has grown on me. I went to a local club this past weekend and a local step group was there, they've come up with the tightest dance to do to it. In some aspects in similar to the dance they did in that Cherish video "Do it to It" but they freaked it differently, more hips and but t involved. "I switched up the beat of the track" and I must say I'm digging it.

So Am I, July 10, 2006
This review is from: Bossy (Audio CD)
Kelis. Where to begin? The always innovative, creative, songstress is back and with a statement to be made (and looking sexy as hell, if I do say so myself). "Bossy" is the lead single from her upcoming album Kelis Was Here and I'm loving it. No, it's no "Milkshake," but why make another "Milkshake," when you can try something new? That's what people don't understand about Kelis; she's a statement artist. She makes music to express herself not to become a part of the corporate world of music. "Bossy" showcases a different side of her, and no she's not singing her heart out, no the song isn't uppity, but yes she gets her point across and yes the song is catchy, memorable, and hot.
Leaving the Neptunes behind and expanding her unique sound with the production of Bangladesh (producer of "Bossy") Kelis delivers the song with her signature, deep, breathy vocals drenched in attitude and confidence. Though the song may annoy you I bet you can't get it out of your head...see...told ya'. It's a breath of fresh air in the R&B/ Hip-Hop world which is now ridden with the blaring "crunk" music consiting of shouting, snapping fingers, and bragging about "bling," all the more sounding cliche'. Kelis is back, and this is her, take it or leave it. The song is different, the song is infectious, the song is hot. She doesn't want to dance around in a diner anymore, singing about her milkshake; she's ready to chant about something new. And who are we to try and convince her otherwise? After all, she's too bossy to listen.

Some Chick's Theme Song, July 18, 2006
This song is okay and I like the guest appearance by Too Short. The beginning of the song is great, and so is the chorus, but you would think with a song called "Bossy" that the sassiness would be continued throughout the song and it's not. Kelis's vocals were basically bland. Other than that, an okay song.
