4.0 out of 5 stars I'm Bossy
At first I wasn't really feeling this song. After hearing it a time or two it has grown on me. I went to a local club this past weekend and a local step group was there, they've come up with the tightest dance to do to it. In some aspects in similar to the dance they did in that Cherish video "Do it to It" but they freaked it differently, more hips and but t involved...

3.0 out of 5 stars Some Chick's Theme Song
This song is okay and I like the guest appearance by Too Short. The beginning of the song is great, and so is the chorus, but you would think with a song called "Bossy" that the sassiness would be continued throughout the song and it's not. Kelis's vocals were basically bland. Other than that, an okay song.

5.0 out of 5 stars So Am I, July 10, 2006

Kelis. Where to begin? The always innovative, creative, songstress is back and with a statement to be made (and looking sexy as hell, if I do say so myself). "Bossy" is the lead single from her upcoming album Kelis Was Here and I'm loving it. No, it's no "Milkshake," but why make another "Milkshake," when you can try something new? That's what people don't understand about Kelis; she's a statement artist. She makes music to express herself not to become a part of the corporate world of music. "Bossy" showcases a different side of her, and no she's not singing her heart out, no the song isn't uppity, but yes she gets her point across and yes the song is catchy, memorable, and hot.
Leaving the Neptunes behind and expanding her unique sound with the production of Bangladesh (producer of "Bossy") Kelis delivers the song with her signature, deep, breathy vocals drenched in attitude and confidence. Though the song may annoy you I bet you can't get it out of your head...see...told ya'. It's a breath of fresh air in the R&B/ Hip-Hop world which is now ridden with the blaring "crunk" music consiting of shouting, snapping fingers, and bragging about "bling," all the more sounding cliche'. Kelis is back, and this is her, take it or leave it. The song is different, the song is infectious, the song is hot. She doesn't want to dance around in a diner anymore, singing about her milkshake; she's ready to chant about something new. And who are we to try and convince her otherwise? After all, she's too bossy to listen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kelis scares me., January 2, 2007

This song is pretty good. It sounds like your current trendy southern rap record, but Kelis' charisma and attitude add something very different to the track. However, I ponder why Too Short was chosen to rap on the record. Whoever told him he could rap lied to him. Has anyone ever heard a rapper rap in the exact same monotone and speed on every single song. Plus, Kelis is supposedly a woman who cares about feminine issues, yet features a rapper who's as sympathetic to women as Jack the Ripper.

I wonder if I'm the only one who has noticed Kelis has changed, and not for the better. She started out a quirky girl who had something different. She was almost like Joi, but with more mainstream potential. Now she's acting like a thug girl despite growing up in the suburbs. She's not a ghetto girl, yet she's acting like one. I was appalled at her skankiness in the Bossy video. There's a key difference between being sexy and sleazy. I wish the BET faithful could figure that out. She has sold out her dignity in my opinion.

Anyway, she seems really hardcore now and I don't like it. She always had an erratic way about her that made you sort of apprehensive, but now that she's married Nas, she's downright scary. She seems the type who would pull a "Naomi Campbell." All observation.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bossy, and lovin' it., August 17, 2006
This review is from: Bossy (Audio CD)
The girl in a realm of Hip-Hop all by herself is back with more attitude than ever. "Bossy" is a good return for Kelis. Its beats are classic party song galore. If the rest of the songs from this album can hold up to the standards that "Bossy" has set, then without a doubt this will be a very successful return for Kelis.

I thought Milkshake was cutting edge, Bossy just up's the anty. Kelis is in a class by herself. Different and that is to say alot these days with so many copy-cat diva in the game. She was the first to switch of the beat,......every thing she gives claim too is real and she is the only...she's BOSSY. Exective Producer on all her SH....t.

4.0 out of 5 stars I'm back........................, May 31, 2006
This review is from: Bossy (Audio CD)
Perfect Single to reintroduce heself to the public. New Label, New Hairdo, and her first album since her marriage to Nas. Although this song doesn't sound like Kelis' usual "unique" sound, it is still has her signature sassy attitude. Over a screwed up beat (similar to how Ciara's "Oh" was created), she comes very boldly, explaining to all the haters just how bossy she is. "I'm the first girl to scream on a track, I switched up the beat of the drum, that's right, I brought all the boys to the yard, and that's right, I'm the chick that's tatooed on his arm.......I'm the b!*ch ya'll love to hate, I'm the chick that's raising stakes, I told young stunner he should switch to BAPE, I'm backed with an 808, cause I'm bossy."
Although she doesn't do her best singing on this song, it's not really the point. I think she's trying to make more of a statement, and that she does do. It would help if she had more controversy behind her though, then the single would really make since. Not her best, but still a cool little song though.

2.0 out of 5 stars When It first came out it was barely ok now it has diminished, May 19, 2006
This review is from: Bossy (Audio CD)
I am a Kelis fan, and I definately admire her music. I have all of her cds Kaleidoscope,Tasty, and the rare Wanderland... All had strong singles, but this is her weakest yet.Milkshake was a strong stand out song that had a lasting effect. This song is to mellow. And, how can you dance to this??? Its nothing but a theme song

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Bossy Enough, June 3, 2006
This review is from: Bossy (Audio CD)
There really isn't all that much when it comes to good party songs, and even as good hip hop songs. That has been the case with Kelis. Although she need a infectious groove with Milkshake a few years ago, her latest single doesn't actually capture the status she had before. Bossy, the first single from her upcoming record Kelis Was Here is a very weak song that doesn't deliver very well. The song isn't anything over the top where you could dance to the music and enjoy it. Although it is fair at first, it just gets quickly tiresome. This is really one of the very few tracks that isn't what it delivers as bossy.

Song: D+
