Product Description

Amazon.com Review

If you're a serious do-it-yourselfer or a contractor just getting started, you can't go wrong with this finish nailer/compressor combo kit from Bostitch. Not only are you guaranteed that the two will work well together, you'll be getting an excellent value as well. In this kit, Bostitch has paired its popular 16-gauge finish nailer with its 1-1/2-horsepower, 5.8-gallon, oil-free compressor. The nailer is a simple, solid piece of equipment designed to reliably do its job all day long. It has an aluminum housing so it's durable on the job site, a quick-release nose door for clearing jams, adjustable depth control for quick countersinking adjustments, an adjustable exhaust deflector, and a no-mar tip. It shoots 1- to 2-1/2-inch, 16-gauge finish nails. The compressor is oil free, so it requires less maintenance then most but is still built to last. We especially liked the solid design of this compressor. The wheels are large enough to make it easy to move around, and although the motor housing is a little flimsy and doesn't block as much noise as we would like, all the gauges and buttons are on top, so you won't risk damaging the compressor maneuvering in tight spaces. The on/off switch is easy to reach and the gauges are easy to read and clearly marked. This compressor will draw 3.4 cfm at 40 psi or 2.7 cfm at 90 psi, and comes with a 25-foot hose, all the fittings, and Teflon tape. --Jonathon Tudor

From the Manufacturer

The one stop shop for the finish carpenter. The CPACK200 combo finish kit includes everything you need to do interior finish work, exterior trim, door and window casings, paneling, cabinetry and staircases. The SB1664FN included in this combo pack has the broadest range of 16-gauge finish nails. The range is from 1- to 2-1/2 inches to handle most of your finish needs. The tool free depth control on the SB1664 allows for quick counter sinking adjustments without the aid of any tools. The 360-degree directional exhaust prevents blowing dirt or debris on your finished surface. The quick clear jam nose opens using only two fingers. The comfort grip minimizes hand fatigue and tool slippage. The no mar tip prevents damage to the work surface. This tool is by far the best entry level finish nailer on the market. The CAP1560 oil-less contractor compressor included with the CPACK 200 has a 1.5-horsepower motor, 5.8-gallon tank capacity. This compressor has an output of 3.4-cubic feet per minute at 40-PSI and 2.7-cubic feet per minute at 90-PSI. The compressor can be used to run other pneumatic tools such as a framing nailer, or brad nailer. The wheels on this unit assist in the portability around the work area. The kit includes a 1/4-inch, 25-foot hose, fittings and Teflon tape to hook everything together, instructions in English, Spanish, and French, a carrying case for the SB1664, 1,000 finish nails, a 1-year limited warranty, and Bostitch 100 years of superior service and quality.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great tool..., but who's to fault?, December 6, 2001

This review is from: Bostitch CPACK200 2-1/2-Inch 16 Gauge Finish Nailer / Compressor Combination Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
The compressor and nailer work fine, that is after I managed to install a drywall screw into the relief valve of the compressor so that I could open and close it.

The unit arrived the day I needed it. Obviously it had been dropped. The supports on the wheels were bent, the plastic cowling over the compressor was cracked, and the relief valve was all but non-functional. I was unable to return it. (It would've cost me dearly to not finish the job I needed it for.) So I decided to live with the cosmetic damage.

My only complaint is with Bostitch's customer service. I sent them an E-Mail describing the damage, and was informed (via return E-Mail) that I should call their customer service line for further details. First off, customer service is customer service, whether it's over the phone, through the mail, or via on-line communications. Secondly, I've attempted to contact Bostitch over the phone, and have been put on hold for...ever. I'm not asking for a replacement compressor, just a new relief valve, you think that they might be able to accomodate me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Quality Problems, Quality Problems, June 2, 2001

This review is from: Bostitch CPACK200 2-1/2-Inch 16 Gauge Finish Nailer / Compressor Combination Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
I just received my bostich package and have used it one day. Let me say, it is my first air nailer and I love the concept. However, my package arrived without all the parts and absolutely no instructions for the nailer. The compressor was missing hardware for one wheel preventing me from setting it up. The compressor also had a large number of scratches on its side like it had been slid across a floor. Nothing I won't do to it eventually on my own but not nice for a new tool. The instructions for the compressor are very poor. First you have to fumble around with 5 different languages. There is not US English version. This unit is built for the common market. You have to read the Great Britan instructions which seem to have been written by someone for whom english was a second language. After finding a web site (none is listed in the info) and then finding an 800 number I got enough info to get me up and running. The package is a good deal and I'm still deciding whether to keep it but just a little more effort could have avoided a lot a hassle. I give it a reluctant 3, could have been a 2.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Bostitch satisfied customer, May 29, 2001

This review is from: Bostitch CPACK200 2-1/2-Inch 16 Gauge Finish Nailer / Compressor Combination Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
I spent 6 Months reviewing numerous tools for my first woodworking shop. Part of my selection came from learnerd advise from a world class cabinetmaker, who has been in the trade for over 40 Years. I needed a compressor and the combo packs offered the best value for the money. The Bostitch brad nailer combo did not receive very good ratings, but others had good experience with the Bostitch 2 1/2 finish nailer. That combo was my choice, and after using them for several Months now, I am very satisfied with both the nailer and compressor. I did add a Porter cable narrow crown stapler and am now about to purchase a Porter Cable 1 1/4 brad nailer. Between these three tools and compressor, my projects can all be accomplished with ease.
