I am totally disappointed with this purchase. The box looked like repackaged. The handle and Pressure Switch was broken right out of the box, so I have to call Bostitch for those parts replacements. It's been a month now and I still have not seen them. Since Amazon don't stand behind this kind of product, I am out of luck. My suggestion is to buy it from your local...

This kit is great; I have no complaints about it. However I did purchase this through Amazon. During the checkout process the system indicated that this product was new and would ship directly from Amazon.

Well the box showed up in good shape, but when I started unpacking the contents my disappointment began. Upon lifting the compressor out of the undamaged box, I found that one of the handle mount points had completely broken off of the compressor unit. This was obviously in this condition when the unit was packaged as I had barely laid my hand on it when I discovered this. No sweat, I can live with that. I'll just have Bosch ship me another handle.

Next I plugged in the compressor and flipped the switch -- nothing. The compressor didn't turn on. I tried a different outlet with the same results -- nada. Boy am I beginning to get angry. This is beginning to look like I was shipped a used and untested unit.

Ok, so the compressor has some issues, no problem. I'll just have Amazon ship me another. No dice; Amazon passed the buck and told me to contact the manufacturer for warranty repair. Ok, so I pay Amazon for the merchandise, I wait over a week for it to show up, when I get it and open it up its in bad condition and doesn't work, and now I've got to get a supposedly brand-new item repaired?

Seriously Amazon, that's a complete lack of customer service. You took my money, knowingly sent me a bum unit, then sent me on my way to have a "new" unit repaired. Thanks a lot. I'll be keeping my tool purchases local from now on. And I'll advise others to do the same.

So moral of the story is to beware. You too might think you're getting a new unit only to receive a used or refurbished one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price, October 25, 2005

I had the same problem as many on this board. The handle broke right out of the box. Cheap plastic on cover and handle with skimpy washers holding the handle on. I called Bostich and they said they'd send a new cover and handle to me (haven't received it yet, approx 10 days). I'll use fender washers when I attach the new handle. I've used the nailers to do some door casings and trim out a remodeled bathroom. Nailers worked great, no adjustments needed. The coupling from the compressor to the hose leaked, so I spent about 3.00 for better fittings. The air hose is not the best, too much memory. But for this price, it works great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good package for the do it yourselfer, February 10, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bostitch CPACK265 Finish Nailer Brad Nailer Compressor Combo Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
I recently refinished the bar room in my hose and used a friends porter cable pancake with a PC Brad nailer and a Bostitch Finish nailer. I went looking for the saem combination of tools for myself for future endeavors. I decided on this combo pack. i like the easy depth adjustment knobs on the bostitch guns over the P&C. Unpacking was easy, although documentation for the compressor is quite limited, if you have never used one before, this might be a task. I had it unpacked and was nailing trim in about 25 minutes. Watch out for the tank moisture drain, mine was sent with this open so I was unable to build pressure out of the box, took a few minutes to adjust and tweak, and again, the documentation telling how to do this was limited.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Nailer Combo Pack, May 29, 2006

This is my first purchase and use of a nail gun. After looking at renting one ($75/day), and then purchasing an electric one that simply was not powerful enough to install baseboard molding, I started looking at Lowe's and Home Depot and asking some questions. As it turns out, purchasing a nail gun alone will run about $150 or so. Then, you need the compressor to run it. So, the combo packs at any of these places essentially gives you one or two nail guns for free. This Bostich pack retails for about $300 at Lowe's. My purchase through Amazon went flawlessly, except for a backorder status which shipped three weeks before it originally stated that it would come. It worked right out of the box, and it has performed flawlessly. I have saved a lot of time and the results look great-only a tiny hole that needs to be puttied. Look around for a good price-expect to pay around $250-300 for a decent combo pack. The compressor is a step above the entry level compressors and it can be used for other air tools besides the nail guns. The two guns included with this pack are a good compromise-one for driving brads in thin molding and the other for finish nailing. You can get guns to drive both smaller and larger nails, but this should suit most DIY needs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bostitch compressor with nail guns, October 19, 2005
This review is from: Bostitch CPACK265 Finish Nailer Brad Nailer Compressor Combo Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
The deal was an unbelievable bargain. The deal is available from Lowes for 299.99 but Amazon had it available for nearly 30% less. I purchased because of the price but it is well worth the current selling price. The 16 ga gun alone is over $150. I recently completed a remodeling project using this outfit. Both guns and compressor performed flawlessly. I tried a variety of nails without a single jam. Both guns countersunk the nails nicely and left a minimal surface defect to repair. The compressor while loud is still typical for this type. Capacity and recovery was well within my expectations. The unit is a top choice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid package, July 13, 2005
This review is from: Bostitch CPACK265 Finish Nailer Brad Nailer Compressor Combo Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is a nice package for the dollar. The nail guns are nice to use, though i found they needed less psi than the manual suggests to drive the nails and brads.

If you are new to air compressors and nail guns READ the manuals a-z before using this equipment!!! They provide good safety information that will keep you out of trouble if you heed what you read. (Other than this the manuals are not real useful.)

This equipment is NOT a toy. 60-100 psi can be hazerdous to your health, especially where sharp objects are concerned. Think safety.

Only grip is mine came with every fitting they could think of except the one required to hookup to the nail guns. This was quickly remedied for a few bucks and a trip to the hardware store. Also fitting to the tank initially leaked. This was remedied by removing the fitting and adding some teflon tape.

Nails and brads are easy to load and i have not encountered any problems with jamming thus far. Also, guns have nice tips to prevent marring the wood.

Each gun came with some teflon tape and oil in the case, as well as 1000 brads and nails respectively to get you started.

Again a real nice product for the price, and while i will not be retiring my Estwing anytime soon, nailing this way sure beats driving them the old fashioned way, and for toenailing this is the way to go. My only regret is that i should have added a pnuematic nailer to my arsenal years ago.

2.0 out of 5 stars Compressor Motor Frozen, Fan Blade Broken, May 25, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bostitch CPACK265 Finish Nailer Brad Nailer Compressor Combo Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
Out of the box, the "connection kit" was loose. I plugged in the compressor and it just 'hummmed'. The Bostitch Help Desk was not very helpful. I brought the compressor to a recommended warranty service center. The'kit' needed to be tightened and the 'humming' motor was 'frozen' with a broken fan blade. The nailers are probably okay, but I couldn't try them.

2.0 out of 5 stars Broken and frustrated, October 19, 2005
This review is from: Bostitch CPACK265 Finish Nailer Brad Nailer Compressor Combo Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
When I recieved the box it had been retaped for security and you could here, what I found to be dessicant, rattling in the box. When I opened the box the 18 ga nailer was missing along with the nails and oiler. The handle was broken and I continued to find damage to the motor shroud up to the day I packed it up for return.
I have been in touch with your company and after many e-mails and phone calls to Stanley Bostich, at your direction. They then directed me to get back intouch with you. I also had to call your customer service department. My new package will be arriving before Dec 4. The projected date. It is in Illinouis(spelling) somewhere. So as you can see I have not been able to rate the product. Ralph

Bought it from a big box store. Worked for a while, but had to get it fixed twice. 3rd time around it was only good for parts. Spend a little more, get something decent is my new motto.
