5.0 out of 5 stars Another amazing Bostitch product
I am a general contractor who builds high end homes in the Boston area. In the summer I purchased two new Bostitch N62 finish nailers on the advice of my local tool shop. My trim crew has never been happier. The tool is incredibly light, yet has more power and less recoil than the Senco and Porter Cable tools we were using. Anyway, I didn't think they would be able to...

3.0 out of 5 stars Will they ever get it right???
I ordered one of these N88WW's, I was shipped an N88WWB. The main difference is that the N88WW can be top and rear loaded with a bypass pusher for the nails for quick loading of the nails. I already have one of these (N88WW) I have been using for the past two years.

Anyway, when I stated this Amazon has 2nd day mailed me a new nail gun. I open the box to...

5.0 out of 5 stars Another amazing Bostitch product, November 16, 2000

This review is from: Bostitch N88WWB Clipped Head 2-Inch to 3-1/2-Inch Framing Nailer (Tools & Home Improvement)
Anyway, I didn't think they would be able to top the N62 until we picked up our new N88 High Powered framing nailers last month! We use a lot of LVL and TimberStrand products. Our Hitachi and Senco framing nailers always left us pulling out our hammers to finish off the nails in the rim joists. The N88 simply buries them in any material...every time! The push-button depth control is the slickest thing we've seen in a long time, almost as equally impressive as the N62's releasable magazine! The magazine even loads from the top or rear! Again, despite being so powerful, there is virtually no recoil and it is by far the lightest framing nailer we have every used! Sweet! Bostitch really has their act together with their new tools. Anyone want to buy some used Senco or Hitachi tools? Oh yeah, almost forgot I'm waitng for my free palm nailers...these things sell for $149 on this site! That's one sweet deal.

4.0 out of 5 stars A god-send for the lightweights in the shop, November 17, 2000

This review is from: Bostitch N88WWB Clipped Head 2-Inch to 3-1/2-Inch Framing Nailer (Tools & Home Improvement)
I'm sort of petite girl who's been building theatre scenery for the past four years. My boss recently decided to buy the N88 for our shop and my days don't seem nearly as long now that I'm using a nailgun that weighs less than eight pounds. There are two reasons I am not giving this product five stars. First, the light weight makes this gun recoil. If you're not prepared for it, it'll bite you, so be careful. Once you get a feel for it, it's not a problem at all. The second drawback is that the anti-slip foot for the gun is made of plastic and easily broken. It is also easily replaced. Beyond these two problems, this gun is a great product. I would recommend it to anyone, with a small warning to watch out for kickback.

This nailer, even on my 5HP air compressor with a cranky regulator that frequently cuts the air out at 95 PSI, still never fails to drive even 16-Penny nails well into the wood. It is lightweight, easy to work with, and always dependable. This gun has serious power, and the recoil issue some have complained about is easily remedied by disabling the contact trip mechanism with the included kit. Even in tough manufactured lumber or engineered trusses of thick Southern Yellow Pine, this gun countersinks every time. In fact, on a few occasions I've neglected to set the countersink correctly when nailing through OSB or plywood sheathing, and after placing 20 or 30 nails in a panel, watched in confusion as it fell out or slid away, then realizing that with the gun set to full countersink, it had fired the fasteners completely through the sheathing and into the framing below. Definitely a tool to last for years and one for the pro's. At $..., especially with the often included free palm nailer, it is an excellent value. I've seen nothing else that comes close to its performance, especially at under 8 lbs!

5.0 out of 5 stars Reliable, safe and fast nail gun!, September 23, 2001

This review is from: Bostitch N88WWB Clipped Head 2-Inch to 3-1/2-Inch Framing Nailer (Tools & Home Improvement)
I built a Casita in my backyward using this product with no prior nail gun experience. Had only one jam for several thousand nails. I like the adjustability of the gun. The gun is lightweight and feels good in the hand. Safety features are excellent and don't slow you down. I will look to Bostitch for a finish nailer to add to my tool collection when I take on my next building project - a mountain cabin.

I originally purchased a Bostitch model 79 nailer. It was awfull! It misfired, jammed, and routinely failed to drive a 16 penny nail completely into the surface. I returned it and ordered the N88. It has been outstanding. It is lighter than most framing nailers, but has great power. It easily countersinks 16 penny nails and has yet to jam or misfire on me. I highly recommend this nailer.

I recently purchased the N88WW to replace my old 20 year old bostitch framing gun and was very disapointed with the way it operates I could not sink 16d nails into the LVL's that we were using and had the pressure on the compressor at 110 lbs. I tried toe nailing some studs with 8d nails and had the same problem. I then took out my old nailer and had no problems with it sinking the nails into the LVL's and other lumber. I think they miss labeled this gun high power.I returned the gun and decided to tune up the old one and continue to use it. Eventuly I will buy a framing gun but not a new bostitch.

Before purchasing the N88WWB I would consider buying 2 N88RH-MCN nailers. These shoot round head nails and have a quick-change head for installing metal re-enforcers.

All the features on this gun work great. The gun is very light, and it has the power! All day i have been shooting nails into Southern Yellow Pine. This lumber is about the toughest lumber to set nails into.. Its all stamped SEL DEN . that is a very heavy, tight grained hard lumber.. and im amazed that it will sink a 3" framing nail into 2 plies of yellow pine, every time. and at full power, it will sink the head of the nail about a quarter inch into the wood. Try that with any other gun.. It won't happen!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but there are better, May 26, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Bostitch N88WWB Clipped Head 2-Inch to 3-1/2-Inch Framing Nailer (Tools & Home Improvement)
Gun is fine most of the time, but it has some glitches that drive me crazy. Fist off, a new feature is that this gun takes 4 slides of nails, 1 more than previously. This feature combined with the top load feature on this gun cause the nail heads to stick up in the top load area and not feed properly, which causes the gun the jam. The gun also double fires way too much, especially when the compressor kicks on. At 120 psi, this gun still does not set ring shank nails into 3/4 OSB. The older bostitch guns are much better, as are all Paslode and Max framers. Spend a few more $$$ on Paslode or Max, or a few $$$ les on the older models by Bostitch.

This review is from: Bostitch N88WWB Clipped Head 2-Inch to 3-1/2-Inch Framing Nailer (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is my first stick nailer. I reviewed a lot of nailers before I decided on this one and am very happy with my choice. As a home improvement enthusiast, I have been using this nailer to finish off some framing in a spare room for about a month, and am very impressed. The nailer is lightweight, easy to use and adjust. I have yet to have the nailer jam and have had only a few nails that were driven short. It sure beats swing a hammer all day, and makes toe nailing breeze. I definately would by this nailer again.
