We first purchased these staplers for a busy academic library for our patrons' use. The first year they were terrific. This past year, every single stapler broke by the third day of use. The loading device has a small plastic nub that is critical for the proper functioning of the stapler. That nub broke in every single stapler. We duck-taped the loader and got more mileage from each stapler that way but the whole situation was very difficult. It is an example of a great product that went wrong through a cheapened manufacturing process. This might be ok for your desk, but for public or heavy duty use, avoid it.

The Stanley-Bostitch Heavy Duty Stapler PHD-60 is easy on the hands, can staples lots of paper and do it smoothly. I am very happy with it - use mine all the time.

I bought this stapler after the one I had became harder to use and the staples were becoming mangled. I had to 'double staple' because the first staple bent out of shape.

This stapler works great. Whether I'm stapling 2 sheets or 30 sheets. Probably staples more than that but for my needs it works perfectly.

Before breaking, this stapler worked fairly well and I never had it jam. However, when you use the stapler, you'll notice than when you push down on the handle to staple some pages, the stapler will frequently rock forward towards you. A bit strange, but it still functions. However, after about 5 months of use, my stapler snapped in two right above the metal staple-folding insert on the base of the stapler. Now, of course, the stapler is completely worthless.

Very disappointing. I'd avoid this stapler; it just doesn't hold up well under moderate use.

Just got it. Stapled a half dozen 50 page documents without a problem. It was the cheapest one I could find.

I bought this stapler because my old Swingline finally jammed so bad I couldn't revive it. I wanted a stapler that I couldn't kill for my home office. Since I'm often stapling several sheets together this seemed like a good choice. So far I'm very happy with it.

It's a good size and has a very sturdy feel to it. I got these Stanley Bostitch Premium Quality Heavy Duty Staples for PHD-60 Stapler, 5,000 Count Box (SB35PHD-5M) to go along with it and have tried stapling about 15 pages without any problem. I've posted some photos on this site so you can see the size. It's definitely bigger than my old one but I like the idea of being able to staple more than just a couple pages. It loads from the back which I've been able to do without incident. I posted some photos of it open so you can see how it loads. I think this stapler will be with me for a long, long time.

This is a heavy duty stapler for attaching 2-60 sheets of paper. The base and handle are black and grey plastic, while the mechanism and plate are steel. There are rubber grip pads on the bottom of the stapler to prevent slipping on a desk. The stapler ships with a long handled staple puller and 800 heavy duty steel staples.

My husband unpacked this stapler and loaded it for its first use. He told me he had some trouble figuring out how to load it, but it seemed to work fine once loaded. We tested it on a batch of 58 sheets of paper. It stapled them easily with no jams. Then I tried loading the stapler myself. Since there were no written instructions for loading the stapler, I examined the pictoral instructions on a sticker on the stapler carefully. After about 3 minutes of studying the pictures and trying a lot of different moves, I got the stapler drawer to open and put some new staples in. I closed the stapler and tried to staple, but the loading drawer kept popping open. I couldn't get it to stay closed. Next thing I knew, the drawer popped way out while I was stapling and the rod bent severely. Dead stapler. I already have enough paper weights, so sadly, I had to throw the brand new stapler in the trash. If only there had been some written instructions to go with the pictures! At least I have the heavy duty stapler puller and 800 staples for consolation. Too bad--just a few words on a paper insert to explain the pictures on the sticker might have kept this stapler alive.

A heavy-duty stapler that staples up to 60 sheets of paper was exactly the type of item I’ve been looking for. Enter the Stanley Bostitch Personal Heavy Duty Stapler. Sleek and contoured, it takes up nearly the same space as my old Swingline. This one offers ergonomic styling so it’s easier for my arthritic hands to use.

The package includes the stapler, a pack of 800 Bostitch heavy duty premium staples and a hand-held staple remover. There are no instructions save an oval gummed label with pictures of how to load the stapler. It was not very explicit, but after three or four attempts, I managed to insert the staples and replace the spring-loaded plunger. Stapling was another matter. The staples jammed in my first three attempts, and I had to pull them out with needle-nosed pliers. Not entirely deterred, I tried a fourth time and managed to staple a packet of about 25 sheets of paper. I tried a few more times with flawless results, so the first attempts must have been mistakes on my part.

The staple removing tool is really handy, because the staples are longer than most and would be hard to remove without damaging the pages. The hand-held staple remover is also ergonomic and works with little force. Very nice. Another plus is its non-skid base.

This item deserves five stars for looks and performance, however, since it states “No-Jam Technology” and it did exactly that, I have to remove one star.
