Product Description

Amazon.com Review

No need to buy a brad nailer and a crown stapler separately, this super-versatile nailer/stapler tool packs two tools into one handy unit. Perfect for crafts, paneling, nailing finish and trim, cabinetry and more, this tool let’s you swap nails for staplers rather than disconnecting and connecting a new tool to the compressor. In nailer mode, the unit drives brads up to a 1-5/8 inches in length for anything from stair construction to cabinet work. The stapler mode fires 18-gauge, 1-1/2-inch finish staples for easy furniture upholstering and craftwork. An adjustable depth guide sets staples and brads to desired depths quickly and conveniently. And, tool-free adjustable exhaust easily directs exhaust away from the user. --Brian D. Olson

What’s in the Box
¼-inch air fitting, 1,000 2-inch brad nails, 1,000 1-inch staples, carrying case hex wrench extra no-mar tip and oil.

From the Manufacturer

The ultimate Tool for the craftsman and home hobby shop. It's actually two tools packed into one design. Even better, the SB-2IN1 tool requires no adjustment to switch from brads to staples and vise-versa. When used as a brad nailer, the SB-2IN1 drives 18-gauge brads between 5/8 and 1-5/8-inches long. As a narrow crown stapler, the tool drives 7/32-inch crown staples between 1/2 and 1-1/2-inches long. Its adjustable depth guide sets fasteners to desired depths quickly and conveniently while a tool-free adjustable exhaust directs exhaust away from the user. kit Includes: nailer/stapler; 1/4-inch coupler; 1,000-pack of brads; 1,000-pack of staples; hex wrench; non-marring tip; convenient carrying case; and oil.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a woodworker's tool...., February 15, 2002

This review is from: Bostitch SB-2IN1 2-In-1 Narrow Crown Stapler/18-gauge Brad Nailer (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought the Stanley SB2IN1 in early January because it could shoot both brads down to 5/8" and staple, giving me more versatility in my shop. Hindsight being 20/20, I wish I would have spent the extra money up front for a good stapler and a good brad nailer. The cylinder wouldn't seal when you hooked it up to an air hose, and I would have to continually hook it up/disconnect it until it would finally seal. The other problem, and it might be related, is that even when I put the compressor at the max pressure (100psi) it wouldn't countersink staples even in 1/2" plywood. The last problem is that if you could get it to countersink a brad, the footprint is the size of a staple. Leaving an ugly mark on your project. I returned the tool and am ordering a separate stapler and brad nailer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a woodworkers tool is right !!!, February 19, 2003

This review is from: Bostitch SB-2IN1 2-In-1 Narrow Crown Stapler/18-gauge Brad Nailer (Tools & Home Improvement)
I strongly agree with reviewer,Jonathan Ness about this product. I purchased the Stanley SB2IN1 because it could shoot both brads and staples, giving me the versatility and saving me the cost of two tools. When I put the compressor at max pressure (100PSI) it wouldn't countersink nails or staples even in pine. If you could get it to countersink a brad, the footprint is the size of a staple. Leaving an ugly mark on your project that require additional finishing. I contacted Stanley Bostitch and they told me that they knew of this problem and to get it to countresink, increase the pressure to 120 PSI (however I think the seals will wear out much faster). This is fine for staples but still leaves the ugly mark when using brads. They also told me that this is the problem with a combination tool. If I could return this tool I would...I will use this tool for stapling only and purchase a Porter Cable Brad Nailer, also the brads are much easier to find for the Porter Cable than the Stanley Bostitch....

1.0 out of 5 stars 2 in 1........but twice the problems!, November 18, 2005

This review is from: Bostitch SB-2IN1 2-In-1 Narrow Crown Stapler/18-gauge Brad Nailer (Tools & Home Improvement)
This nailer has some design flaws that need to be addressed. I usually do extensive research on any tool before I purchase it but this was an impluse buy and I paid for it.

First off you should never try driving brads with this gun because the firing head is the width of a staple and leaves huge depressions in the wood for driving a brad. Might be fine for paint grade furniture or trim, but not stained.

Secondly, don't try driving 5/8" brads with this gun, constantly jambs because the nails have to travel on a track inside the loading rail and they don't quite make it to the firing pin.

Third, not enough power to countersink staples into plywood.

Fourth, it is difficult to aim where a brad is going because the firing pin is really designed for staples.

Fifth, after using it for awhile driving brads you will find that the staple will recieve uneven pressure driving the staple on either side because of the firing pin being worn on one side by the brads.

Spend the money and buy a seperate staple and brad gun. Stanley Bostitch is a great company but unfortunately with this product they fell short.
