Amazon shows incorrect dimensions for the speaker, so here are the actual speaker dimensions according to Boston Acoustics: 6-1/4" tall x 16-5/8" wide x 8" deep

My father bought this speaker as an upgrade for an Onkyo HTIB system. In fact, it was his only speaker upgrade (cheapo). He paid almost $200 for it... but every dollar of that 200 or so was well spent. Talk about clarity! When watching TV or movies, you can hear dialogue crisply without having to crank the volume. After hearing the CS225CB for myself and wallowing in my jealousy, I had to buy one too - only this time from Amazon.com at a remarkable discount. If you want clarity and precision without breaking the bank this is the center for you. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could because I think the sound could be a bit "smoother" if that makes any sense. However, I believe this is one of the best center channel speakers at the 100 (or so) dollar price point out there, period. Don't hesitate, buy it. You will not be disappointed!

I am the guy that always hears people talk about sound quality but often can't actually hear the little nuances these people talk about. I know what I like when I hear and I know what I don't. It's sometimes the hardest part about amazon is you can't actually touch or hear what you are buying before you buy it. My current setup is 3.1, I have been very slowly add pieces as I can afford it which is not to often. I started with a set of Bose 161 when they were on sale, the added the JBL sub 10 when it was on sale for $100 an awesome sub woofer which was on sale at an incredible price. It added a lot of depth to the sound and was wonderful as a stereo but was only fair for watching a movie or TV. The voices where not quite as clear as I would have liked and so I was finally able to add a center channel speaker. All I can say is I am very happy. The sound is crisp and clear and the voices are distinctive and easy to hear. This is an excellent purchase for the price. With the addition of this speaker we never use the TV speakers any more even for watching regular television. It also has a smaller foot print which makes it easier to put in some setups than others. I am a big believe in size doesn't always matter and price for quality is king. This has definitely fit all my requirements.

The new center speaker has made using the home theatre system much more enjoyable - the voices are much clearer than before... and without using so great a volume.

I was a little disappointed with this on first listening as it did not sound much better than the Yamaha NS-A50X it was replacing. The positioning is difficult in my set-up as the center channel speaker is located in a wall unit above the TV, which gives a 'boxy' boomy sound. I tried acoustic padding and various other positions for the Yamaha but either they were unsuitable (i.e. wifely complaints) or worse acoustically. Anyway, after playing with the equalization and level of the Boston, I was able to get it sounding much better. Now, after several hours of listening to Dolby 5.1 feeds, I can confirm it is much better. Dialog sounds natural and clear with little distortion. I'm sure there are better center channel speakers out there but, for the cost, I can recommend the CS225CB.

Big Difference,
This review is from: Boston Acoustics CS225CB Classic Series Center Channel Speaker (Black) (Electronics)
I purchased this to go along with a pair of CS-26B for front sound on a 7.2 surround system. This replaced a smaller center channel and the CS-26B replaced 2 floor standing speakers. After some time for break in, I am impressed. I can hear dialog on movies and TV much better than before. I am happy with the purchase and got what I expected from BA in this price range.

I have this center with 4 CS-26B bookshelf speakers for my 5.1 system. It is a very well matched group and provides excellent sound, especially for the $. I power these with 130 W/CH, which they handle well. Highs have excellent clarity, with a full, rich midrange. These speakers are only good for mid bass, and really need a sub to perform their best (I have a super Velodyne 15", overkill!), just as any 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 speaker does. I compared to Klipsch, Definitive, Polk, B&W, and others. IMO nothing will touch these for the price. I also love the classic, subdued styling.

Check the measurements in front of your TV and this speaker before you order. My entertainment stand does not have room for the speaker and I thought I could just rest it in front of the TV. My TV is not mounted. This center channel speaker truly enhances the audio for all TV viewing aspects. Cable, movies, video games. I'm no audiophile, but I can already appreciate the difference with the added depth and fullness that this center channel provides. There is an added realism to your programs. I had the volume up during a couple arguing on screen and my dog (who was in the other room) came running back into the living room because the dog thought there were ppl yelling outside! Dialogue is more crisp and I find myself not rewinding as much to catch something that was missed.
I write this review without comparing my experience to other center channel speakers, but from the other reviews, I already agree that the tweeter and woofers are more than enough power, and that's what you want in a theater system...more power than you need. It's better than finding out the speaker you ordered is underpowered for your needs. I feel like Tim Allen right now. Great value for your money.

Stick up your nose at thie speaker if you choose but it is a very good center speaker and sounds gret. If you have to pay hundreds of dollars to feel good abourt your sound system then this is not for you. If you want a high quality center speaker that performs and at a small price then buy this unit.

Cheap speaker grill. ugh,

looses a star for the fact the pins on the speaker grill are cheap since four of the six broke off. so don't remove it or try to be gentle. other than that it is better than the klh center channel that i bought from amazon that has a bad driver on it after purchase. which made me disappointed. and great sound quality with bigger drives than the previous speaker it replaces but the price isn't as good. but was paying for a higher quality product overall.
