5.0 out of 5 stars Great speakers, great value
I had Boston speakers for my main system and I got these for music in the garage. Great clear crisp sound, good value for the money. Very happy I got them.

This review is from: Boston Acoustics CS26C Classic Series Bookshelf Speaker (Cherry) (Electronics)
I purchased these speakers as a result researching the excellent reviews on several audio websites and they were to be used as stand-alone bookshelf speakers with a Sony STR series home receiver. Setup and hookup was easy with the screw posts. The cherry finish looks very classy and the speakers look great with the front screen installed or removed. Midrange and high frequency response is quite good and offers very good stereo separation. Bass performance is quite lacking forcing a +10 setting on the receiver's bass EQ control (it's highest setting). For instance, the prominent bass line in "Another Brick In The Wall" is almost lost in the mix even at this extreme bass setting. With the EQ set on flat, the bass fades to the point of being imperceptible. Though not expecting subwoofer performance, these speakers which feature a 6.5" woofer and a relatively deep cabinet for a bookshelf design should be capable of producing a defined bass response and they do not.
