Awesome Sound! Not so great distance with Remote,

I just received this speaker system and it is very impressive. Sound is much better than my stock speakers of my Panasonic 42" PX600U, which was having a vibration problem with certain High Definition discs because I like bass.
I paid a little extra 1 1/2 years ago because the Panasonic HDTV had a pretty decent speaker system as these things go. When I hooked up HD DVD and Blu-ray, my stock speakers seemed as if they were shaking apart in certain scenes having a vibration bass problem. This speaker system cleared that right up, as I can turn down my HDTV speakers and turn up the TVee speaker. It is not a surround sound system and it doesn't pretend to be. It is perfect for my bedroom. I love being able to adjust the boom boom with the upside down trash can bass speaker. Very cool how it is wireless, except that you need to plug it in to an electrical outlet. It does make a slight hum, but nothing too noisy. And it does automatically shut itself off in a few minutes after your TV shuts down. Voices seem more clear and equal to the background and special effect noises. I had a heck of a time adjusting my HDTV to get the voices and special effects to behave together. My only real gripe is that you have to be 6 feet or closer for your remote to work with it, and it can be a time waster if you use both your TV speakers and the TVee system together to get them adjusted just right. There is no on screen programming with the TVee system. The syncing with your own remote was very easy and I got everything going right away with that. It is pretty cool how the speaker system turns on when you turn on your TV and turns off a few minutes after you shut off your TV. Ok, maybe one more gripe was the price tag. A little steep I think. You do get the wireless bass speaker and don't have to hook up a wire jungle, which should count for something I suppose. I got everything up and running in less than 10 minutes, which includes the unpacking and syncing the remote. Still, $350 was what I paid as of this review. I'm thinking for $250, I would be sitting a little more pretty, not feeling like I overpaid. Atleast give me some more remote control distance and some on screen programming to synch up the TV and the TVee speakers together.

Great solution for the family room!,

Having a nice 34" Toshiba wide HDTV but the speakers were poor, making it hard to understand some dialog and music was terrible, plus movies just were not a joy to watch. I didn't want to load up the family room with a surround sound system and looking at all the Sound Bar systems by Polk, Yamaha, Bose, Sony, and Boston Accoustics I found this one to be the best choice give its width would fit best on top of my 34" TV, and it didn't have surround sound emulation processing which usually requires the TV and speaker be centered in the room with furniture rearranged. All I wanted was good quality sound from my tv shows, movies, and music videos. This speaker system didn't let me down! 5 minutes it was hooked up. I was able to put the wireless subwoofer in the cabinets underneith the TV so its hidden as well. Music Videos come alive and sound awesome. Movies sound great. TV shows are great. Dialog isn't drowned out by sound effects like they are when ran thru the TV speakers. Being and audiophile nut and having a dedicated movie room upstairs this solution was perfect for the family room tv!

I purchased this product for my in-laws since they don't have a multi-media receiver and the sound from their Samsung LCD HDTV is not great. The set up was simple as advertised, and the sound was great, but the remote wouldn't work past about 4 feet away. Couldn't understand why that was! I went online and found out that this is a common problem as they evidently did not remove a dark red filter from the infrared sensor in front and that limited the range. The fix is fairly simple, just remove the screen and the red filter. That little issue was very annoying to me and my father-in-law who uses this TV the most.

Boston TVee Soundbar,

This review is from: Boston Acoustics TVee Powered Soundbar Speaker System with Wireless Subwoofer (Mist) (Electronics)
I have had this speaker system for two weeks. It jumped in price by $100 the day after I purchased it from Crutchfield at $299. The speaker system easily outperforms the speakers in my 46" Samsung LCD. The setup was very simple and took about 10 minutes. I programed my Direct TV remote to the up/down volume and mute and it was very simple. I use my remote from about 15' from the Soundbar and it is flawless. I connected the RCA cord from my Direct Receiver audio output to my Soundbar input. You can use your output from your TV if you want to. On top of the Soundbar is a power switch, a mute button and a volume up/down controls. You should not need these after you program your remote. You never need to turn the Soundbar off as it goes into sleep mode after 5 minutes of no signal. A light on top of it is green when it is on and it will flash when you use inputs for volume or mute from your remote. The volume controls and the power switch on to of the Soundbar are used to synchronize your remote to the Soundbar. Some people say they cannot get their Direct TV remotes to work. Works great for me and the range is 15 feet plus. My subwoofer is 15 feet or more away and under a table and receives its wireless signal with no set up required. Just plug it in to a 120V outlet and set the volume control. The sound comes from under the subwoofer. It also has an on/off switch which I never turn off. The soundbar has a "Trim Switch" on it with 4 positions. It is suppose to change the sound but with my old ears I do not notice much change. Just set it to what ever sounds good to you and forget it. This unit is not supposed to be a surround sound or be a high quality speaker system with a big speaker sound. It is very good sound compared to nearly any TV and has a 100 watt amplifier built in. There are four speakers in the soundbar. You can drive people out of a normal room if you want big sound. It was the only unit I could find where you could program your remote to work with it. I wanted no part of any more remotes. The unit does not come with a remote. The RCA cable that comes with it is rather short. Perhaps 3 feet. I needed a longer one but they are really cheap. The equipment appears to be well constructed. I have the black unit which matches my TV and I have it on a shelf just about 4" above my TV. I think the lower the soundbar is the shorter your range may be. Just a thought not backed up by science. There are various color grills for the soundbar you can buy if you want some special color. The sondbar's size is ideal for me. It is about 36" long and 4" high and not much depth. It would fit nicely with most decor. At $299 I think it is a steal and give it 5 stars. At $399 it is getting pricey and I will give it 4 stars based on value. Most places have this on backorder so they must be selling fast which tells us something is right with this equipment. With the sudden increase in price of $100 it also tells us there is more buyers than production.
If you do not like it you can always send it back. I sure like mine and how lucky I was to get my unit the day before the price increase. Most places offer free shipping and no income tax.

Great idea but troubled by technical difficulties,

The unit greatly improved the sound from our new LG flat screen - I could finally understand movie dialogue. Unit also looked fine set just under the tv on our cabinet. However, after numerous attempts by me, my husband and my 19 year old son, then finally by emailing and calling the manufacturer - never could get the remote to work properly. It wouldn't 'hold' the setting. The manufacturer declared it defective, so I returned it. But seems from my online research, that this product has issues relating to remote controls. I'm now in the market for a good, compact, affordable sound bar/system so I can finally hear just what Darth said. He mumbled something about being a father....

Have been unsuccessful in getting the system properly setup to respond to my volume remote control. Instructions are ok, but I still cannot understand why I cannot control the volume by my remote (directv remote).

Easy to set up. One thing is I had to figure out you have to program each entry. Volume up, down and mute individaully. The insert. Didnt say that. But yeah, it's great looking and works great!

I would not buy this product again,
This review is from: Boston Acoustics TVee Powered Soundbar Speaker System with Wireless Subwoofer (Mist) (Electronics)
After the initial start up and getting it to scale volume with the TV. It worked for about 3 months. The unit would work intermitently. Shuting off, and yes at the most inopertune time. I contacted Best Buy who referred me to Boston Acoustics. After exhausting the normal scripted list, I sent the unit in to teh repair facility, they are still " Working on the Problem ". In the interium, I brought up the Bose speakers from my office to suppliment the sound. At half the price, they sound just as good.

Boston Tvee 2 woofer hissing and poping.,
By Don S. (Maryland Hgts., Missouri United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Boston Acoustics TVee Powered Soundbar Speaker System with Wireless Subwoofer (Mist) (Electronics)
Purchased Boston Tvee 2 in 2008 at $300 for use with TV in medium size room. Expected to have purchased quality product for that price but had several problems with unit. #1: Agonized with remote 4 foot operational distance until found the "remove red filter cap" solution in "FixYa". Lost connection with remote and shut unit down for about 6 months. Now, after half day playing with set-up, finally got remote synchronized again. After aprox 30 minutes operation, the woofer started to output rather loud random speaker pops. Attempted power recycling, changing unit-woofer channel, adjusting power output level and relocating woofer with no success. Have not removed woofer cover or contacted repair facility yet; perhaps I'll just scrap it and look for a more reliable system. Seems many others have had similar problems.
