Boston Acoustics makes quality products and this is a good little sub for under 200. Good for apartments and smaller living rooms, but if you're thinking of doing a bigger space consider the XB4.

this little subwoofer puts out a lot of power. I was going to buy the xb4 or xb6 , but settled for this one . i most likely will buy the xb6 next year , because i am simply an audiofile. if you live in an apartment, or townhome this sub is perfect, i live in a house , and want a little more power.

The Boston Acoustics XB2 8" powered subwoofer is aesthetically appealing in its size and style. I like its front throw design as opposed to a bottom (to the floor) throw design of my former sub. I have never liked dominating or obtrusive audio equipment. Its small size accommodates the space provided for it in my small apartment. This sub gives the right amount of oomph or dimension of sound for movies and certain music without being a nuisance to the neighbors in my building. I am thoroughly pleased with it and recommend it.
