About the Author
A former history major, Patrice Sherman is especially interested in social and cultural history. She is the author of the picture books The Sun s Daughter and Ben and the Proclamation of Emancipation. Her articles have been published in Learning Through History magazine, and she produced Growing Up at Work: A History of Child Labor in America, a multimedia educational program for the Massachusetts History Workshop. Sherman has lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts right across the Charles River from Boston since 2000. Before that, she lived in Boston for over twenty years. In her spare time, she likes to go to Boston to visit its many museums, the public library in Copley Square, and Goodspeed s used bookstore, which is over a hundred years old.
