About the Author

Bill Nowlin has written a couple of dozen books on the Boston Red Sox, including Red Sox Threads and Day by Day with the Boston Red Sox. He's also edited a number of "team books" on the Red Sox, in collaboration with colleagues from the Society of American Baseball Research (SABR), which he serves as Vice President. Among the SABR books are The 1967 Impossible Dream Red Sox and books on the 1918 Sox, the 1939 team, the 1948 team, and the 1975 team. A volume on the 1912 Red Sox is in the works.

And why is that? Because if you've read Bill Nowlin before you know he's pointed out many times that you can't tell the history of baseball without telling the history of the Boston Red Sox. Therefore, when you put out a comprehensive trivia book with questions that range from elementary level to those among the Ph.D. ranks, and you do so in a new, intriguing format that includes compelling backstory that only an accomplished author such as Nowlin would have access to, what you end up with is not only a fantastic trivia book that any Red Sox fan will absolutely love, but you also get a book that is a timeless memorial to the greatness of our game. I don't care if you are a Yankee fan (and I lean that way myself, believe it or not) this is a great baseball trivia book that just happens to be about the Red Sox. You will love it -- and if it's not for you, then buy it for the person in your life who loves baseball. You want the Yankee companion that goes with it -- different author, same company, same format, here's the link: New York Yankees IQ: The Ultimate Test of True Fandom (Volume 1)

Bill Nowlin, a gifted baseball historian and expert has proved with this book that you cannot speak of baseball history without the background and origin of the Boston Red Sox.

This is not just any trivia book. This book is for die-hard, inveterate baseball fans who have reached that scholarly level of knowledge about the game.

You not only get trivia, but you also get stories replete with incredible information about games and players that not only salute the Boston Red Sox, but baseball in general. Regardless of whichever team or teams you cheer on, this is an EXCELLENT book that any baseball lover will enjoy. There is even a rival book about the Yankees by another author.

Even the most well-informed, well-versed fan and follower will run into some very challenging questions. Bill Nowlin is a scholar and this book is a must-have for all who love baseball. I love good baseball and I love the Boston Red Sox and cheer them every time. This is a nonpareil work that stands alone.

Hats off to the Red Sox!

I'm a big fan of Bill Nowlin; he's arguably the most astute Red Sox trivia buff on the planet, and this book is a wonderful demonstration of Nowlin's incredibly wide base of knowledge. Any true fan of the Red Sox will love exploring this little IQ test; but beware, the questions will challenge even the most knowledgable Sox trivia expert; so you'd better make sure you bring your "A" game to pass this entertaining course of Red Sox history.

As a baseball historian who specializes in St Louis Cardinals trivia, I found myself mesmerized by Nowlin's entertaining question and answer guide; alas, I didn't know enough Red Sox specific trivia to make it to the postseason, but I think I digested enough new material to keep me awake at nights for several weeks now; thanks, Bill!

If you're a fan of one of baseball's most storied franchises - the Boston Red Sox - you've got to grab a copy of this "ultimate test of true fandom"; if you know most of the answers, you obviously have devoted your life to Red Sox baseball; but that's not unusual for most Red Sox fans that I've come across.

As a commercial message, look for the St Louis Cardinals IQ to hit Amazon in the next couple of months; it should be a challenging test of Redbird history, but I've got my work cut out for me to match the efforts of Bill Nowlin!

The person, who I gave this to a a birthday gift, was surprised at how much he still didn't know about the Boston Red Sox. He is an avid Sox fan for as many years as he has lived in Boston ... and that's well over 30 years.
