Hark The Herald Red Sox Sing!,
By Mike King "Mike Vegas King" (Taunton, MA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Boston Red Sox: 2004 World Series Champions (Hardcover)
This book is really a collection of articles that first appeared in the Boston Herald, accompanied by great color photographs. The action begins at Spring Training, and continues with key games throughout the regular season. There are articles for every game in the American League Division Series, the American League Championship Series, and the World Series. In addition to that, Manager Terry Francona, Pedro Martinez, Manny Ramirez, Tim Wakefield, Jason Varitek, Keith Foulke, David Ortiz and Curt Schilling are briefly profiled. The writing is as colorful as the photos, particularly when describing the aftermath of the last World Series game. "As the Red Sox stormed out of the visitors' dugout at Busch Stadium to celebrate a 3-0 victory that completed a stunning, four-game sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals, the din of the outpouring of emotion from New England was almost audible through the on-field shouts of jubilation. Generations of Red Sox fans went to their graves having never experienced a World Series championship, but after an 86-year wait, the descendants of the unfulfilled exulted for family lines." As a lifetime member of Red Sox Nation, all I can add to that is, Amen and Hallelujah!
