I've worn hard, and later, gas-permeable contact lenses since I was 16 (I'm now 63). Due to presbyopia, I now wear very expensive multi-focus no-line gas-permeable lenses. These lenses have continued to correct my vision extremely well for far longer than any other lenses I've worn. But, after a few years they started giving me problems. I could clean them but they'd became unbearably blurry again within a few hours. I suspected tenacious protein deposits which would not clean off. I resigned myself to buying a new pair and made an appointment with my ophthalmologist. In a close photograph of my lenses he showed me where, just as I suspected, each lens had small patches of protein deposits which were irritating my eyes, exacerbating the problem by causing my eyes to generate more protein laden fluids.

The price for a new pair of these special multi-focal lenses was $300 (in addition to the eye exam). I thought at least there would be a small adjustment in the prescription, but no changes were needed. So, I decided that before I spent $300 for a new pair exactly like what I already had, I would investigate with greater determination all methods to get my existing pair clean. I'd been soaking my lenses in Boston Advance, Boston Simplus, as well as trying other brands and formulations. I'd clean at least once a week using Boston Advance Cleaner or diluted Lemon Fresh Joy (recommended to me many years ago by a professor of ophthalmology). Lately my lenses became blurry so quickly that I'd have to clean them several times each day. The Lemon Fresh Joy seemed to clean slightly better than anything else I'd tried up to that point.

The product works fine, but is comes in a different package than shown. Rather than a bottle that you can use 1-2 drops at a time it comes in individual plastic vials. If you happen to have just a single lens its a horrible waste. The directions say to use 2 drops in a very full contact case, but you know 1 drop in a 1/2 full case works just fine too... In this case there are about 6 drops in each package. Its a huge waste of packaging optimized for the profit of the manufacturer.

A new comforthold dispenser that works, yes, but we've been using little plastic bottles in the world of eye care for over 25 years now.... why should they pull this now and remove from bottle form?!
The previous bottle of this same product (prior to "comforthold" ahem, *improvement*) I was able to make last a lot longer and still use it up before the expiration date. If you were to use this as the directions state, you'd have to buy yet another box in three months rather than a lot later. Comforthold?? Were we all of a sudden not able to hold a bottle and squeeze a few drops out in the way that we do with soaking solutions and cleaners on a daily basis?? A terrible move by the company in order to make the consumers buy more.

Contact lens users can take bottles larger than 3 oz. on a plane, but you have to declare them separately. I have not tried it myself, but from Googling it seems that TSA can require you to open the bottle for them to test with some kind of litmus strip. (Note to users of another solution that contains hydrogen peroxide: apparently that will NOT pass the test; peroxide is forbidden). This kit is good if you want to avoid any possible hassle, delay, or extra scrutiny.

The bottles are small. You get 1 oz. conditioning solution and .33 oz. cleaner along with a case. They lasted me for 11 nights of traveling and a couple more nights at home before the conditioning solution ran out. I use the conditioning solution just for soaking; I rinse the cleaner off the lenses with tap water.

The bottles have screw on caps, not flip-tops like the bigger bottles.

Another reviewer refers to this as a full-size kit which it most definitely is not. You can, however, get a full-size kit for about this same amount of money: Boston Advance Care Kit.

The person who complained that these solutions irritated their eyes was probably having an allergic reaction. That can happen with any product. It doesn't necessarily mean the manufacturer is doing something wrong. Many people, including myself, use the Boston Advance products without problems.

unfortunately I was disappointed with this product. I have use enzyme tablets that dissolve in saline before and my contacts are bright and shiny clean after the treatment. I didn't expect as much from the boston one step, but I didn't get anything close to my expectations. My lenses seemed no cleaner and felt no different than if I'd used my daily cleaner. Also, on the fine print on the insert inside the package, the instructions tell you to mix the one step with regular boston cleaning/soaking solution. Since I don't usually use boston products, I wish I would've known about this step at the time I was buying the one step. Maybe this product will work better for those who contacts don't get quite so coated with protein deposits, but it didn't do the job for me.
