There's no doubt a timer is an essential tool for cooks at all levels. This cupcake-shaped dial timer brightens any countertop, and it's ideal for timing the results of one dish, though it may not be the best bet for timing multiple dishes. It's easy to set and--since each minute is clearly marked--it's also easy to judge the time that remains. The timer's one-hour capacity works well with a majority of dishes, but will need to be reset for those that require long, slow cooking. With a calming tick and a good loud ring, you'll be sure to hear it, but you'll want to keep it close by, because it doesn't continue to time after the buzzer has sounded. --Jane DePaolo

The review above mine is 100% correct. I had the same experience. The timer is cute so only buy it for looks, but I would rather go to Hobby Lobby or Michaels and buy a fake cupcake for $1.

I WOULD NOT TELL ANYONE TO BUY THIS ITEM UNLESS YOU WANT IT FOR LOOKS. I GOT MINE AND YES IT IS VERY VERY CUTE BUT IT NEVER WORKED CORRECTLY. THE TOP OF THE CUPCAKE IS FAR TO HEAVY AND IT DOESN'T MOVE WHEN YOU SET YOUR TIMER. IT WOULD NOT MOVE MUCH AT ALL IN FACT SO SAVE YOUR MONEY AND BUY A CHEAPER ONE...
