These spreaders have ceramic handles formed like Christmas light bulbs, but the utensils are first-rate, not flimsy novelties. In fact, the blades on the four spreaders are 2-1/4 inches of thick, rigid stainless steel, a sign of the set's quality. (Spreaders are 5 inches long overall.) Handles are brightly colored and glowing as if the bulbs were lit from within. Employ the spreaders for soft cheeses, pâtés, condiments, and spreads like smoked salmon--even as butter knives for breakfast toast.
