They take a bit to break in and after a little pain they are very comfortable.

After one wearing I noticed that the top of both shoes began to peel.

The shoes were great for the first 3 months of minimal wear, but have worn out very quickly. After emailing them, the company even told me to keep my comments to myself, that they don't need to hear it. Sounds like a company I wish I hadn't supported. Not worth your money, spend your money on better companies. You can get a very nice pair of Birkenstock and wear them for years. I'd go that route if I were you.

I am now on my second pair of this particular shoe and I would have to say that I am just as pleased with the second pair as I was with the first. I have to admit that the price is what I find the most appealing. These shoes are very hard to distinguish from its more expensive peers and I believe that few individuals would be able to tell the difference. My only complaints are that they do not hold a polish quite as well as I would like and the sole wore out a little quicker than I had expected. These problems can be cured, however, with frequent polishing and a trip to the cobbler to have a rubber sole glued on for a minimal fee. Even without the addition of the rubber sole, my first pair lasted for about six months with daily use. These shoes are perfect for those on a budget, and will certainly get the job done in style.

While I liked the shoes, a problem occurred which greatly diminished my enthusiasm for the shoes. It appears that the eyelets are punched too close to the edge of the flap and after a couple of months they ripped through. I bought 2 pair of these shoes and this occurred on both pair. I've never have had this happen before to me.

What else can I say but that I wouldn't buy them again.

I had not worn these Bostonian Akron's for more than an hour when the shiny paint on the surface of the leather (?) just flaked right off. It flaked off along the bend line right behind the cap toe. You might say that this was just a bad lot and the finish wasn't applied right or this pair stayed on the shelf/warehouse too long, but those excuses would miss the point = why on earth would I buy leather shoes that are maybe leather with a layer of paint substance covering the entire shoe. They looked like cheap plastic shoes (and I am military so I understand chorpham or pattent leather shoes, but these are different/cheaper/faker). I do not recommend buying the Bostonian Akron.

LOVE this shoe! I thought about buying this shoe for over 6 months before I bit the bullet. I talked to someone that had this shoe for years, washed them, and they were practically indestructible. However, now that I own a pair. They are made from poor quality materials. I have only worn them 3 times and already there is a hole in the linen at the heel of both shoes. I am very displeased with this product's construction.

Besides how poorly they are made, this is the perfect shoe. They fit my foot perfect. I am able to walk miles without my feet hurting. They are the perfect grab and go shoe.

I just wished that actually lasted more than three wears, especially when I bought them for around $70.

I needed a decent pair of black dress shoes and I was in a pinch. I figured these would be a decent buy -- not expensive, replaceable soles, classic look bearing a classic brand name. The first time I wore them, they fit fine -- not tight across the top, my toe not butting up into the ends. They were a bit tight, which I attributed to the newness of the shoe. I was very wrong.

I've worn these puppies close to 30 times and they feel no more broken in than the day I lifted them from the box. The do LOOK worn in, because they crease very easily and the leather is particularly low-grade. I have to keep a shoe brush in my office desk drawer to buff out the constantly visible scuff marks. And even with proper care, they collect water spotting like no other leather shoe I've seen. Perhaps I have high standards because my other pair of dress shoes are Allen Edmonds. But the Bostonian name is usually associated with quality, and these are anything but.

Do yourself a favor and save up a couple hundred bucks and buy a nice dress shoe from an American manufacturer. They'll be very comfortable and last you a lifetime.

I wear these to work (office job) and immediately the black paint (ink) started wearing off on the soles, exposing the light colored tan underneath...looks terrible. Did not get a chance to return...very dissapointed!!!

I'm forced to purchase shoes over the Internet given my shoe size and that the local (Caribbean) stores don't often have my size in the styles I like. I'm partial to Bostonian and Giorgio Brutini as they seem to have standard styles. This Bostonian is the first shoe I've purchased unseen and I am pleased with the fit and the look. The shoe is also stitched at the bottom and that's very important to me. As I've only had the shoes for a month, it's a little early for me to discuss longevity and will update on this characteristic if durability becomes a factor in the future
