4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely shoe for a reasonable price
Averaging about $100, the Bostonian Tahoe is a moderately-priced shoe sporting a high-end look. The shoe itself is manufactured in India, yet has a sheen that reminds folks of Italy.

The debate about shoe sizing is interesting to me, because I see two folks say that they downsize by a half-size while another person says they upsize by the same measure. Since...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good shoes but doesn't fit true to its size
I liked the shoes and it looks very good with good material. The work is nicely done for the shoes. Good shoes for the money with a caveat.

The shoes doesn't fit true to its size and to me that's a defect. All of my shoes are 9M but I had to re-order 9.5M for this shoes. Please consider 0.5 size more than your normal shoe sizes.

Since I fall into the latter category (wearing 9.5 Bostonians versus 10.0 normally), I guess I even up the mark. Given the variance, I'd suggest Bostonian sizing is pretty standard.

I bought these shoes because they fit well and looked nice - no great epiphany there. Whether they last for several years is yet an unknown question. But after being in business for more than 100 years (powered by the lovely waterfalls of the northern Boston suburbs), they seem to have a pretty good bead on what folks are looking for... and given the new manufacturing site in India, also what they're willing to pay.

Bostonian features "First Flex" construction, which suggests that the shoes need absolutely no break-in period. I'll admit that's a lie, as did the salesman from whom I bought these shoes (his took about 2-3 days to feel comfortable). But hey, do you believe every marketing slogan you read?

If you think they look good, and if they feel good on your feet, I'd say buy 'em. For the price and character, you're entering both a known quantity and a good product history.

3.0 out of 5 stars Reconsider V.Patel's review on size, December 13, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bostonian Men's Tahoe Oxford (Shoes)
Take heed, the shoes are not 0.5 size smaller. In fact it may be even .5 bigger. I just ordered and got 3 bostonian size 10w shoes and two of them met my expectations for size 10w. However, the 3rd - yes the Tahoe shoes was bigger by at least .5 inches. You can go on and take Patel's personal experience with 1 bostonian or take my warning that is based on 3 bostonian shoes.

Bottom line: if you're unsure, just order the size you usually order or go to a store and try them on first because all shoes can fit differently. Just don't expect your feet to be the same as Patel's or the bostonian tahoe to be smaller relative to other bostonians.

Btw, as for the quality of the shoe. It felt kinda thin in the uppers. It looks quite nice - shiny and polished but I already started seeing creases where the toes meet the rest of your feet straight out of the box. And like i said they seem to be a bit bigger, partly because the upper isn't padded like my other bostonians.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Shoe, April 7, 2011

I am horrible on Shoes. My feet are very wide and I tend to walk over most shoes I purchase. These held up well. The only problem was the soles do get worn fairly quickly.

Very good quality item. I'm very satisfied with this purchase. I also saw same model on Clarks shop. It's little narrow for my duck feet. Choose wide fit if you have the same problem I do.

These are most uncomfortable shoes I have ever worn. I understand that there is a break in period for leather, but you can't possibly wear these enough times to ever break them in (if they ever do). I feel like I have two boards strapped to my feet. They pinch in the heel and leave blisters within a few hours. The manufacturer may want to condition, rub 'em or whatever to make these a bit softer before they sell them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable, Stylish, Well Designed Shoes, July 26, 2009
This review is from: Bostonian Men's Tahoe Oxford (Shoes)
I have tried many shoes from various brands and the Bostonian "Tahoe" are by far the most comfortable, stylish, well designed shoes with the best fit IMHO. (In my humble opinion) All these features also come at a very reasonable price.

These shoes seem a tight fit while in the store but after a couple of days of wear they will fit your feet perfectly. They're also very stylish with a perfectly black gloss look all over which is also very easy to maintain. A couple minutes with the buffer every two weeks and they're as good as new. I particularly like the "Tahoe" because of its design: very sleek lines with virtually no stiching showing.

I have been wearing Bostonian shoes for well over 6 years now and the "Tahoe" are definitely my favorite. The only con is that these shoes are not made for walking outside other than from your car to your office. Walking long distances on concrete and especially in the rain will cause the soles to wear out very quickly while the uppers are still brand new. They are afterall "dress" shoes.

PS If you choose Macy's (great deals) instead of Amazon be ready for a loooong wait LOL. The product is marked "in stock" and the order will go through but the shipping date will keep getting pushed back and back further. (6 months!) It didn't bother me that much since I have a fresh pair and am just stocking up for more but if you need them right away for a wedding or something then get them directly from Amazon.

I just bought this Bostonian Tahoe Oxford shoe and was very pleased how quickly it was delivered. I like buying online since I buy wide shoes and not every store carries a great selection. These shoes did come in a wide version and they fit great.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Very comfortable and duarble, December 26, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bostonian Men's Tahoe Oxford (Shoes)
I bought a pair of these shoes in October 2007. They look as good today and they did then. Care is quite easy, just a little polish now and then. The shoes have retained their shape well and the sole/heel wear evenly.

A great looking shoe!
