Editorial Reviews

The remarkable British tenor, Ian Bostridge, is one of the world's most sought-after Lieder singers. Pianist Roger Vignoles is his accompanist for this recital of Lieder by Franz Schubert and Hugo Wolf. The strength of feeling and individuality of voice and presence that Bostridge brings to composers settings of poetry by von Collin, Goethe, von Bruchmann and Mörike, demonstrates why, in Germany, he is hailed as a true German singer. His command of the nuances of the texts is masterful.

This live performance from the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris is intercut with informal backstage interviews in which Bostridge and Vignoles introduce their choice of music. Their lively and informative comments are a real bonus, fostering an appreciation and understanding of the repertoire and giving an insight into the art of the recitalist.
