5.0 out of 5 stars Yummy
I met Diana at HerbFest 1997 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I spoke with her again in 1999 for advice. She is one of the most down-to-earth individuals you will ever meet, and goes out of her way to help. Diana simply oozes sensuality. There is no other way to describe her. She adores life and knows how to make the most out of living. Botanica Erotica is amazing. The seminar she...

I had to pick and choose what I felt I could actually USE from this book. Most of the recipes look great. (Although sorry...I don't think I could eat a cow's vulva under any circumstances other than extreme starvation! Don't worry: Most of the recipes do NOT contain such unusual ingredients!)

I want to be as sensitive as I can in writing the next part since I...

The seminar she gave: Herbal Aphrodisiacs for the Body, Mind and Spirit at HerbFest 1997 was the one of the most fascinating I've seen.

For instance... Did you know that the body's central organ of sexual response is the brain? Brain food includes magic scents, luscious tastes, favorite colors, warm baths, fragrant flowers, candlelight, the feel of silk on a naked body, chocolate, wine, liqueurs, reading erotica, sensual massage, feathers, skinny dipping, moonlight...

I only wish there were more pages in Botanica Erotica! If more people could find the time to experiment with the ideas in this book, I am certain that divorce rates would decline rapidly! I'll definitely be buying several copies as wedding presents for my friends. Have fun with this one. You WON'T regret buying this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Soul-Warming Book, April 12, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Botanica Erotica: Arousing Body, Mind, and Spirit (Hardcover)
In my opinion, the author has written a delightful treatise on using food, drink, herbs and our power as sensual beings to rekindle our joy in life and, particularly, in physical love. Yes, you do need an open mind in order to appreciate this book, but I keep it on my coffee table and so far no one who has picked it up to flip through it has taken offense at her warm, witty thoughts on sexuality, nor at the beautiful (and sometimes funny!) art works reprinted within. Even the use of cannabis is mentioned in a very sensitive manner (to which I can only add try it - it is a wonderful aphrodisiac!). The section devoted to the ancient gods, goddesses and sacred prostitutes is a based on the author's research. There are other reference works than the Bible, after all.

Botanica Erotica has added a new dimension to my own sensuality, and has inspired me to learn more about aromatherapy in general, and about movement arts (yoga and dance). I believe this book was the catalyst that started me down the road to a healthier body, as well as a richer sex life.

Diana DeLuca has penned a beautiful book of tidbits and recipes...all honoring the sacred sexual-sensual self. Sensual Oils, foods, etc. are all in this book. It can be used for romancing , and offers natural alternatives to the typical candlelight and flowers... Honor yourself...honor your lover...have some Summer of Love punch...and by this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars All-kinds of sexy, natural fun!, April 16, 1999

This review is from: Botanica Erotica: Arousing Body, Mind, and Spirit (Hardcover)
I waited and waited for this vibrant, sensual, joy-filled woman to put out a book and now it's here! Diana has written a beautiful and wonderful book filled with ideas, recipes and suggestions to re-energize your sexuality. The herbal advice is sage, and her knowledge of women's health is vast. I bought this book after taking her "Botanica Erotica" workshop just to have a little bit of her energy in my space. Diana's a delight, and her book refelcts that. Learn to have fun again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sexy and Fun, January 9, 2000
This review is from: Botanica Erotica: Arousing Body, Mind, and Spirit (Hardcover)
Diana is truly one of the sexiest women on the planet. An embodiment of true goddess energy, she oozes sensuallity. I was able to meet her several years ago and she shared many of the tales written in this book. She invites everyone to have fun and explore new ways to look at our sacred sensuality in a very unabashed way. We can all learn something from this woman. Her book is a fairly easy read (I finished it in under 3 hrs.) with some interesting recipes such as her Chocolate Cordial (I just finished making it, it's delicious...).

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful erotic vision of the goddess in every woman, October 1, 1998
This review is from: Botanica Erotica: Arousing Body, Mind, and Spirit (Hardcover)
This work is pure, clean and joyous. Ms DeLuca celebrates the "pleasureable" and honors the planet by encouraging us all to enjoy our sensuality in colorful, imaginative ways. Certainly one of the sexiest women on the planet.

I had to pick and choose what I felt I could actually USE from this book. Most of the recipes look great. (Although sorry...I don't think I could eat a cow's vulva under any circumstances other than extreme starvation! Don't worry: Most of the recipes do NOT contain such unusual ingredients!)

I want to be as sensitive as I can in writing the next part since I certainly recognize that everyone has their own beliefs and part of humanity is the innate right to that. The one thing I have something of a hard time with (I've studied the Bible extensively) was the section on all those ancient goddesses and the temple prostitutes that honored them. You'll find some very poetic references to giving and taking sexual pleasure in the Bible, but the practice of temple prostitution is roundly comdemned. The ancient Israelites were commanded not to give their sons or daughters as temple prostitutes and not to utilize the services of temple prostitutes - no ifs, ands, or buts...though the record shows, they didn't always listen.

I have a warm and satisfying relationship (physical and otherwise) with my partner and I like to explore different ways that we can please each other. But I have to admit, the various references in the book about the sacredness of the sexual act and honoring "the goddess" with sex made me so uncomfortable that I'm seriously considering returning the book. (Maybe I took it too literally, but that doesn't change my un-comfortableness.)

The other thing I felt very uncomfortable about was the reference to cannabis (marijuana) as an aphrodisiac.

Although I liked some things about this book, I'm just not sure I feel very good about having it in my house. But obviously not everyone else will share my background and sensitivities and based on the other reviews, they may like the book very well.
