Product Description

Perennial. Hardy to USDA zone 4. Lemon Balm is a lemony mint relative. Use leaves to make tea, as garnish, in salads and potpourri, or for their medicinal qualities. Be sure to save some leaves for cooking. Lemon balm adds a lemony flavor to fish, chicken, and vegetables. It is also used herbally for insomnia or with peppermint in tea for an upset stomach. Mature plants have pretty white flowers. Charlemagne, a medieval Frankish King, had lemon balm planted in every monastery garden for its beauty. (Recommended for containers as plants will reseed freely if planted directly in garden beds.) Plant in sun or shade.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sprouted easily after a trial, gave good yields. Yummy in tea, April 9, 2009

These seeds were tricky. They dont like being covered at all. So all I did (when I succeeded) was sprinkle them on top of good wet sprouting mix and let the sun (or grow light) do the rest. Being so light and small, they're easily washed out of soil, so don't expect that they'll be right where you planted them. You might try covering a cup with plastic wrap to keep humidity in so you don't have to water it until they're rooted sprouts, and won't wash out of the soil.
Great yeilds, yummy with chamomile in as a tea.

On the first try I got zero growth from my seeds. After a month of waiting with no avail, I contacted No Thyme Productions and requested another packet of seeds to try again. A few days later I got it in the mail and tried once more, and so far I do have seedlings. I can't tell you about the plant itself and its flavor yet. I will get back on that soon when I have my first sip of tea made with the Lemon Balm.

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't grow, January 21, 2009

I ordered lemon balm for my Aerogarden (hydroponic systems) in June. I waited until November, then I call "No Thyme Productions" and told them this. They sent me a new packet. Again I tried to plant the seeds in my hydroponic system around December (I didn't plant them immediately as the Aerogarden was taken up by eggplant, which were delicious). Again, they didn't sprout. Now I am wondering whether or not it is too late to complain again.
