An unsung trumpet great,

Thomas Marriott is one of many non-famous professional musicians who deserve to be famous. I love this CD, and gave another one to my dad (a former trumpeter and trumpet music aficionado). I'm personally impressed with his jazz improvisations, which give me chills, and his Latin swing is another favorite. You can see him in person frequently around Seattle (check Earshot Jazz for showtimes, or Thomas's website), and get your CD autographed. I encourage you to check out this CD!

jazz is not dead, thank heavens,

This cd stands as a testament to jazz's vitality - a young artist with chops give his forebares a nod on a few covers, plays a few of his own tunes, lets his band take center stage while still driving the bus, and makes a cd that is both fun and engaging, steeped in tradition but not tied to it. Excellent - can't wait for the next one!
