OMG I'm hopping the fence too!,
By D'Avian Barksdale "Book Lover 4 life!!" (The Ghettos of America) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Both Sides of The Fence (Urban Renaissance) (Paperback)
M.T. Pope honey you put it down in this book! I have to tell you that James is the most diabolic dude this side of the Mississippi. The book starts out with James being a victim, but after that James turns into the victimizer and it ain't nothing nice. Shawn is a lawyer that has his secrets and when they start falling out he will wish he never opened that door. Shawn's wife Mona has some secrets that she has no idea that they are about to tumble out. This book was so shocking and I can't wait to read what happens in the sequel!

Playing Both Sides,

Shawn Black is a 35 year old successful attorney and family man.He is living the good life with his wife Mona who is a stay at home mom.He has a nice home,a beautiful wife, a great career and two children. So what more could Shawn possibly ask for? Shawn has a childhood secret that he has been keeping from everyone including is wife.
Mona has a secret she has been keeping from her husband as well. For starters, she suspects that Shawn is seeing another woman.Just when she feels things are going well between her and Shawn...someone from her past comes into the picture and threatens to destroy her marriage. James is a bi-sexual who has been hurt from a previous lover and rather than get his heart broken again, he sets out for revenge, using anyone that crosses his path to maintain his luxurious lifestyle that he is use to having. He befriends Shawn and sooner or later James has his mind set on having Shawn.James is very manipulative and conniving and will go the extra mile when it comes to getting what he wants. M.T. Pope has talent and he did a good job with his debut novel Both Sides Of The Fence. The story was entertaining, fast paced and held my attention from the first page. However, some of the things in the book were a bit far-fetched and unbelievable. The story had too many typos as well and I didn't care for the ending. However I do look forward to reading more books by M.T. Pope in the future. Reviewed by nicole098 StreetLitClique Final Rating: 3 stars

I THOUGHT I WAS THE REIGNING DRAMA QUEEN,
By Tina Brooks Mckinney (Atlanta) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Both Sides of The Fence (Urban Renaissance) (Paperback)
Lawd, I was not prepared for this book. Mondell knocked my socks off and had me shaking my head with this DRAMA packed novel. Not your typical down low book. Hell I didn't even realize it was a down low book until I got into it. I started it on the plane when I was travelling to DC to hopefully meet Mondell and get it signed while I was touring the area. Little did I know he had his own tour going on and we never got a chance to exchange hugs! KUDOS to you Mondell cause as soon as I got back to my hotel room I read like a manic until I was finished. IT WAS EXCELLANT. I wish I had the first review that I wrote that Amazon didn't post because I had details that I wanted to talk about but I'm sure we will cover them in our interview that I will be scheduling soon. LOVED THE BOOK! Telling all my friends. I'm pleased our books are linked!

M.T. Pope is The 2010 James Earl Hardy,
By Anna J "Writer's Edge Publications,LLC" (Philly, Pa.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Both Sides of The Fence (Urban Renaissance) (Paperback)
Wow...the very first words that came to mind when I began to read my copy of Both Sides of the Fence. First, let me say that I started this book at about 5pm yesterday and was done by 9pm last night. I was shocked... I could not believe that a character badder than Monica existed! James is more than a hand full, and there wasn't a dull moment in the entire book. To say a woman scorned is one to watch out for is an understatement. A man set on revenge and willing to take down everyone that comes in his path should be more feared! I've never read in a book such scandal and determination to jack up everyone's life. Had me shaking my head and holding my breath as I turned the pages not believeing what I was reading. Most books are pretty predictable for me, but I had no idea none of this stuff was going to happen.
An excellent read! The best yet for me in 2010.

*SMH*,
This review is from: Both Sides of The Fence (Urban Renaissance) (Paperback)
To the folks who said this book was well written, I don't know what book you're referring to but it can't be this one. Although I did enjoy the story line, the book had waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too may typos and grammatical errors. There were times when I wanted to throw it against the wall. When it comes to reading a book, typos are like speed bumps; it slows you down to the point where you have to stop and figure out what the author was trying to convey before you can continue reading it. I hate that. I hope and pray the sequel is well edited before it hits the book store's shelves.

3 Words: What The @#%#!,

This review is from: Both Sides of The Fence (Urban Renaissance) (Paperback)
Don't sleep on Pope, he really brought it. With a successful career as a lawyer, a devoted wife who makes steamy love to him and waits on him hand and foot and 2 beautiful kids, it would seem that shawn has everything a man would need to be satisfied. But Shawn has a tragic past and an itch that prevents that. In comes James. Lord have mercy, this character is off the hook! Think of the most trifeling person you ever met, well James is probaly ten times wrose than them and swings both ways. Hmmm. And he has the nerve to be broken hearted. James vows to make others pay for his pain and sadly that will be Shawn and his family. And boy do they pay! What I love about this story is that nobody and I mean nobody is what they appear. With the exception of the kids, every character has skeltons in their closet and lets just say that you not gonna believe who else is keeping company with James. The book is worth every penny and will leave you off the edge of your seat. I was at work pretending to work but I was really reading this book because there was always something happening! This book will go down as a down low classic.

TOO MANY ERRORS MADE THE BOOK DISAPPOINTING,

I read this book at the endorsement of Carl Weber in his most recent novel "Big Girls Do Cry." I was highly disappointed. Not only do I read books for content, but also for accuracy and errors. I find it hard to believe that anyone edited this book. There were countless errors--and that's just on the first page. I read a variety of books, on average of two to three a week. I am a huge fan of Carl Weber, and at his suggestion I gave this one a shot. The content was implausible, and it took everything in me to continue reading until the end. The quality of Carl Weber's books was definitely not reflected here, and it is difficult to believe that he published this one. Too often new authors have elusive creativity and are eager to put out a novel. This one should have been edited at least by a fifth grader. I have absolutely no intention of reading anything else by this author. And to you, Carl, if you don't want to lose your fan base, do not endorse books seemingly written by a third grader!

BOTH SIDES OF THE FENCE by MT Pope is a captivating story that will have you reading and not wanting to put down. You will laugh and have so many OMG moments. This book has it all scandal, seduction, secrets and lies.James is a bi-sexual who has been hurt from previous lovers. James set out for revenge, using anyone that crosses his path to maintain his luxurious lifestyle. .James is very manipulative and conniving and will do anything to get what he wants. Shawn is a married man with two children and a beautiful wife Mona. Shawn's sexual appetite is in the down low lifestyle. Unfortunately, Shawn and his family becomes James new target, as he weaves in web of lies, deception, and drama that unravels more secrets than you could ever imagine. Mona has a secret she has been keeping from her husband as well. She suspects that Shawn is seeing another woman .Just when she feels things are going well between her and Shawn. Someone from her past comes into the picture and threatens to destroy her marriage. Author M.T. Pope all I can say is WOW. I read this book in one day; once I started I just had to keep reading to see what was going to happen next. The story line was excellent and true. The characters were great. I love how each chapter was focus on a character. I loved how there were so many events that I did not see it coming. M.T. Pope has talent and he did a good job with his novel Both Sides of the Fence. The story was entertaining; fast paced and held my attention from the first page. If you are looking for a good book with lot of drama. I highly recommend this book.

Him and Niquole need to meet! LOL!
