The Hooters finally release a live album,

This review is from: Both Sides Live (Audio CD)
The Hooters are Philadelphia music scene staples. Mostly known for their production on other artist's work, when the Hooters play as a band they can be absolutely magical. With "Both Sides Live," we get the first live album by the band; they had previously released only individual tracks live, like their cover of "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" on "Hooterization."
Disc one was recorded at a pair of concerts at the Electric Factory, and is the stronger of the two discs. The band and crowd are in rare form, and the feel-good energy of the songs really shines through, especially on "And We Danced," "Time Stand Still" and "I'm Alive." Disc two is completely acoustic, capturing the spirit of the small sessions that the Hooters have done numerous times over the years. While a couple of the songs really sound better electric, it's a nice change of pace, and some absolutely are amazing when stripped down, like the deep cut "Morning Buzz." All in all, a must for any Hooters fan, and a great choice for everyone else.

First U.S. Live Hooters Album,
By
This review is from: Both Sides Live (Audio CD)
A very good representation of a very good band in their element...on stage and in an intimate gathering in a smaller space.
But it's not EXACTLY the first live Hooters album to be offered. The 1998 LIVE IN GERMANY, with the late Mindy Jostyn (who was a wonderful performer) on fiddle, harp, and vocals, was a fine souvenir of a Hooters show. It can still be had...altho' a bit pricey...and this offering, BOTH SIDES LIVE, is, to these ears, a better live show, but not by too wide a margin. If you care at all for the Hooters brand of Philly rock, you'll love this. If you're only familiar with a song or two, this will probably convert you. Stellar versions of South Ferry Road, Zombies, Johnny B, and And We Danced drive home the power of one of the finest bands to come out of Philadelphia.
