5.0 out of 5 stars Oh man, there's just something about this record, October 6, 1999
By
A few songs on this album in particular are just absolutely perfect. I Want a Lot Now, Dancin' Shoes, 18 Wheels, Ready For More, Dear Hearts, Stars in Her Eyes. They're just flawless. Hard and unrelenting, but at the same time, really swaggery and epic-seeming. Maybe its the brutal organ tone, maybe its Spencer Moody's warthog-whose-intestines-are-on-fire howl, maybe its their steady slow tempo, but these songs just have so much presence and power. This record really invigorates both rock and punk by adding a swagger to both, and then twisting them in the Devils own way. This album is fantastic!

5.0 out of 5 stars SO BEATS THE HEART OF ROCK AND ROLL, August 26, 1999
By A Customer
From the moment I first heard the Devils, I knew I had found the rawest raunchyiest band the N.W.'s ever seen. This band puts on the best show I have ever seen- bar-none.Empty Bottles is yet another example of how perfect the power of the Devils can be. From track one to end this is power rock that the world needs to hear. Do yourself a favor and get this record, get in your car, turn it up, and let the power take you where it may.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great mix of swaggering attitude and old Punk Rock, October 16, 1998
The first few times that I saw the Murder City Devils, they didn't impress me--I wanted them to speed it up and be the hardcore maniacs that Area 51 and the Deathwish Kids were. In fact, the only reason why I went to their shows was because they always had the Catheters open for them and I love that band.

The Murder City Devils were always an acquired taste to me--something that I enjoyed but only if I could get myself in the right mood. Don't get me wrong, I learned to really love them, but that's just it; I LEARNED to love them. It didn't come from the heart.

From the minute that I put their new CD on, all that changed. This is grittier, harder, and much more no-holds-barred rock n roll. They've realized much of the potential that they had and used all of the talent they've stored up to create something that I'll never wish was sped up.

This album is a must for anyone who likes to rock HARD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock n Roll, February 19, 2001

This is the sequal to Murder City Devils first self titled album, and to say the least this album is great. The Lyrics are a little diffrent then the first album but still seem to blow this album away, there are still keyboards like in the last album but this album is a little more rock n rollish with songs like JohnnyThunders and others. If your a fan of rock n roll and you like keyboards and really great vocals you'll love this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars The best new rock band in America!, September 22, 1998
By A Customer

The Murder City Devils are not your average rock and roll band. Sure, they look like a bunch of tattooed hooligans, clad in black and sporting bad attitudes. They light stuff on fire. They drink beer like a normal person drinks water and have a roadie who looks like he got kicked off the last Ted Nugent tour. They play an organ, for crying out loud. But the beauty of the Devils is that their sneer is real. These guys mean it and they mean it more than anyone has in a long time. No schtick here, my friend.

This record makes you want to grab a guitar and start a band. It makes you want to go to the mall and shoplift Zippo lighters. It makes you feel BAD in a really good way, like when you're bootlegging 40s outside the 7-11.

The record is chock full of surprise hits, from the blistering opening track "I Want A Lot Now (So Come On)" to "18 Wheels" and "Johnny Thunders". Legendary producer Jack Endino has done these boys good. It is, without question, the most exciting rock record to come out of Seattle since Nirvana's "Bleach".

In the liner notes, the Murder City Devils state that they would "Like To Thank Rock and Roll". That statement should be flipped around - Rock and Roll should thank the Devils for keeping it real.

You won't regret this purchase. See them live if you have any doubts - after they rock your world, you'll be left wondering how and when you can join the Murder City Army.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good times had by all, February 13, 2004
Every single moment of this album is pure genius, even the less known songs like "Hey Sailor" and "Stars in her Eyes" are great. The best songs on the album are "I want a lot now" and "Dancing Shoes."

5.0 out of 5 stars just buy it and crank it baby, October 29, 1998
By A Customer
this stuff is so cool it's like punk rock that really rocks even though it's not fast...it also sounds kinda evil and that's what makes it so different, they sound like no other band. These dudes are groovy and they are helluva lot better then 98 percent of the bull thrown at ya.

This is one of the best, IF NOT THE BEST, rock groups in the last fifteen years. I never got to see them live in person but have seen numerous videos and regret not seeing them every time I listen to any of their albums or dead low tides albums. Buy any of Murder City Devils albums and you have purchased one of the most under rated rock bands of all time. I only wish that they hadn't of called it quits.........

It should be mandatory for anyone that watches mtv or likes sum 41 to listen to a murder city record, because its seldom you come across something as azaming as this band and if you cant like it or get into it force yourself to because your probably just lame if you cant find a reason to dig this
