4.0 out of 5 stars A strong ep by NoFX
This is a great ep, not half as good as the Decline... but good. Lower is a great song, and it was a favorite the first time I heard it. Dinosaurs will die is a great song with a good meaning. My name is bud.. uhh..... it kinda sucks, but Bottles to the ground makes up for it. You've probably heard these songs before if ur a NoFX fan, but it's just a cool ep to have.

1.0 out of 5 stars High-pitched (...)
Why don't people understand that Blink182 and NOFX have exactly the same sound and style? I bet if I told a bunch of NOFX fans that a Blink182 song they'd never heard was a new NOFX song, they'd say "oh cool!" It's all the goddamn same thing, so stop thinking that NOFX is "way cool, dude" becuase they're "independent." All the same 12-year-old boy, high-pitched vocals,...

5.0 out of 5 stars Good single, but get PUTV, July 28, 2003
This review is from: Bottles to the Ground (Audio CD)
all in all, this is a great release. it was supposed to be a teaser for pump up the valuum like regaining unconciousness was for the war on errorism. they sent it to radio stations as a joke. dinosaurs will die totally makes fun of corporate music businesses, so if they played that, it would be making fun of the very people who are playing the song. get it? anyways, this is limited to 40,000. only lower is new, and that's now on 45 or 46 songs... get this only if you are a completionist.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Sister's Name is Mary Jane and mine's Bud, May 26, 2004

I bought this CD basically for the songs lower and bud. I already had PUTV (Pump up the Valuum) and was a big fan of both dinosaurs will die and bottles to the ground, so it was an added bonus to see these tracks amongst 2 unreleased tracks. Contrary to what many people believe this is not a sellout record, simply because nofx is not a sellout band. Nofx has a set fan base that will always buy new stuff, especially cool unreleased stuff like this, just look at 45 or 46 songs, that cd is incredible. Oh and if you didn't notice half that cd is live/first take recordings. Also another thing, Fat Mike runs the biggest and best indie punk label kicking around. Not only that but it hosts big offshoots like anti-flags AF records and Strung Out's Stomp! Records (ska music), not to mention Honest Don's and Pink and Black. OK with that out of the way on to the description of the album. Bottles to the Ground, the song which the EP is named after is a mediocre song. Its catchy almost to the verge of being annoying. It talks about living off the drink Its of course on the album PUTV which was released 6 months earlier. Its not entirely bad, but not one of their best. Dinosaur's will Die is arguably the best song from PUTV. It's a satire of modern day record industries, mocking such things as contracts, VH one, one hit wonders, and those frivolous money-spending artists that plague society. It also states how music is no longer made from devotion, but for fame and ambition. A general song about how the big guys, like the dinosaurs will eventually die, as the evolution of music kicks in. Lower is one heck of a song, dealing with people who pride themselves on being the best, and always trying to bring people down to bring themselves up. It has great lyrics but best of all a truly great sound. This is Fat Mike mocking those guys who are always trying to make themselves seem better by bringing others down. Lines like "on a pedestal isn't the view great, you better watch your step, cause it's a nasty fall when know one is their to catch you when you call" grace this song and display the opinion clearly. My name is Bud is a short song, and as you can guess it deals with a substance some of us might be aware of. Its quick, its fast, and its catchy, a great tune about a guy being pressured when he's young to smoke up. It ends with a great line "my sister's name is mary jane and mines bud" A classic tune that should be in every avid Nofx's record collection. So there you have it, it's a decent EP, worth the money if you are a big fan, wouldn't suggest it to a beginner nofx fan, as they might be disappointed. However this is personally a 5 star for me, and to all those complaining about them sending this EP to the radio stations, go listen to the other song they sent to the radio stations, its called Please Play this song on the radio.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, if only for "lower", November 27, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Bottles to the Ground (Audio CD)
This has 2 old songs (bottles to the ground, dinosaurs will die) which were good on "Pump Up The Valuum" Lower, and Myname is Bud are good songs, and for how little this costs, they're worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Are you serious????, October 2, 2002

This review is from: Bottles to the Ground (Audio CD)
NOFX and Blink do not have the same sound. They do both put a more comedic sound into the traditional punk, but if that was what makes them the same, then Guttermouth and lot's of other bands would be the same too.

NOFX has been around a whole hell of a lot longer than Blink.
So shut the hell up.

4.0 out of 5 stars nice to hear 'my name is bud' again..., January 8, 2002
This review is from: Bottles to the Ground (Audio CD)
this was a cool ep, it was nice to hear a newer version of 'my name is bud'..yeah, thats right, its an old song(someone thought it was a new one)it sucked that they edited out the swearing on 'dinosaurs will die'...which kind of undermines the whole topic of the song...but 'lower' was way cool..i think it was track 15 on the us version of 'PUTV'..but im not sure...overall its worth the money...nice!
