5.0 out of 5 stars Really Awesome Book!! June 7, 2008
Format:Hardcover
Okay so yes, there should be some content from the book shown, I agree.

However, if you have faith in other people's opinions - hopefully mine will help you make a decision about whether or not to buy this book.

I read through this book today for a few hours while at my Aunt's House today and I have never been one for these ''home remedies'' etc. I found the book extremely well layed out, for one thing. You can look things up by either problem(insomnia, hair - loss, coloring, etc, arthritis, cold, headaches, etc) or by ingredient (flax oil, honey, lemon juice) which I found to be very helpful. I had a list of things I wanted to find out how to cure or rather, help ease the discomfort. I also had a few ingredients I wanted to look up to find out what they could be used for, so the double purpose of that was really helpful.

The book is also written by two sisters who have a sense of humor and who integrate it into parts of the recipes. There are medicine/remedie recipes for your body, but there are also a few really awesome homemade chicken soup, salsa, recipes. I was actually fascinated by how much information was in here and it wasn't boring at all to read!

My suggestion: Make a list and mark pages with post-its because you'll think of one thing(acne, alligator skin, oily skin) you'll want to cure and you'll think of another thing and another, which amused me for two hours earlier today. I jumped online as soon as I could so that I could find out what other people thought of it.

Honestly, I highly recommend it. It's only $10 so if you're really hating on it(can't imagine why)then you're not bad off.

I checked it out from the library and ordered my own copy.
If you're interested in taking care of your body instead of just running to the medicine chest this is the book for you.

I recognize many of these 'folk remedies'/food cures. These are the ones that my grandparents used growing up back in the day when you couldn't just run to the doctor for every little thing since the doctor traveled and had to come to you!

This book is a fun read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and useful to have on hand June 11, 2010
Format:Hardcover
This book is great. It has home remedies for every imaginable ailment, and most of them have such a long list of different options that you can choose one based on what you have on hand. It's not something I use everyday, but it's great to have around in case of a sudden illness, rash, etc. I love that the "recipes" are natural, tried and true, grandma-taught cures, so I don't have to worry about risks or side effects. If I or a friend or family member have a mild to medium health/dermatological issue (or simply something that a doctor can't really do anything about- like sore muscles or bad breath) I always consult this book before buying any expensive pharmaceutical treatments (which, in my experience, are likely to be a waste of money anyway). I wouldn't pay thirty plus dollars for this book, but, for ten or twenty bucks, I definitely consider it a worthwhile purchase. Plus, when I bought it off of the tv infomercial, they included some bonus books for kitchen and household "cures". They're about half the size of the regular book, but contain a lot of really useful, easy to navigate information. Everything from what to look for when picking out different produce at the store, to the best way to pack for a vacation, to gardening tips and tricks. An awesome, free bonus!
This book is funny and playfully written, but also quite useful. Of course, not all the "cures" will work the same for everyone, but there's such a wide variety of them that, even if you never try the more "out there" cures, you're still sure to get your money's worth out of it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just wanted to mention... May 27, 2009
Format:Hardcover
Hi, I want to say that I did not read the book but saw the infomercial twice and what I remembered from it I tried and it worked.
It was amazingly simple and effective at the same time.
After long hours working on the computer i had hard time to fall asleep for several nights. I tried different medication I had at home and nothing helped me.
one night I tried to inhale crashed onion and in about 10, 15 minutes I felt how I was falling into sleep. Thinking that it was just coincidence I tried it next night, and the next night; it worked all the time. I told my friends and it worked for them.
Hope it was worth to mention.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best cure May 18, 2011
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I really love this book because it shows me how to naturally heal myself and keep myself healthy enough to live a long life. It is fun to read and also something to give to my grandchildren to read. I am a retired senior and take a lot of medicines everyday. At my age I worry about the high amount of drugs that I ingest and want to find natural ways to supplement these drugs. I found a lot of interesting tidbits that will help me to decrease these drugs that I take everyday.

Just ran across the infomercial on tv
I completely agree, Skorian! I use Food as Medicine (but I don't know all of the foods that's good with certain ailments - that's why I'm getting this book.) I use Pineapple Juice for brain swelling. I use Parsley for preventing UTI's. Carrots for Angina! And the list goes on.

Also, those ladies... Read More
