4.0 out of 5 stars Where did they run off to?, February 12, 2002

This review is from: From the Bottom Up (Audio CD)
I took the cd off my shelf, dusted it off and pushed PLAY!! Wow, it's been 8 years since these gals released the first (of two) cds? Before there was Destiny's Child in the late 90s/early 00s, there was a trio named Brownstone. Whose voices blended together beautifully. Unfortunately they appear to have gone. It amazes me the ones you don't want to stick around, do and those that you want be around for years to come, seem to disappear.

Some of my favorite tracks on the album are:
If You Love Me, Sometimes Dancin', Pass the Lovin', and Grapevyne.

From the Bottom Up-consists of R&B, soulful with a little very light hip-hop tracks. 12 tracks that one can tolerate from beginning to the end...

5.0 out of 5 stars Y'wanna know what a girl group should sound like???, November 16, 2002
This review is from: From the Bottom Up (Audio CD)
Then, take a listen to Brownstone. These girls can SANG the pants off...well, maybe, I shouldn't say that!

The trio's harmonious voices just bring shudders up and down the proverbial spine like no group before or since.

Why they didn't ascend to the musical heights and become legend is one of music's great mysteries.

5.0 out of 5 stars I miss this group, February 23, 2006

I agree this is what a girl group is supposed to sound like. Maybe if they introduced a booty dance and sang more sexually explicit songs they would still be around. It's sad such a talented group fell to the waste sides--but hey, music comebacks are still happening every day.
