I picked this book up at a convention, read it that night, and found my wonderful, fantastic top the next day. No lie! We've been married several years now. Of course, nothing comes with a guarantee, but it is a very educational book covering really important stuff like emotional & physical safety, how to have important pre-scene negotiations, and some ideas for finding someone to play with. It is well written --- organized and an easy read --- and has cute illustrations along the way. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in the scene.

I'm one of those weird people who love to have terrible things done to me! And The Bottoming Book is a great way to get ideas on how to find those wonderful people, how to talk to them, and some hot ideas for terrible things to start with. Liszt and Easton are a great combination, and it sounds like they have a lot of fun; reading about their exploits makes me want to have fun, too. They're also experts, and have offered plenty of common-sense, easy-to-follow advice that will make bottoming not only incredibly exciting, but safe and healthy. I reread this one before every really hot date!

Thoroughly enjoyable read and great info and techniques on bottoming in the D/s Lifestyle. I learned a lot about how I fit into the submissive world. It teaches you how to negotiate your scene, find your "sacred space", how to "connect" wtih a Dom/Top, and much more. Great for newbies and experienced alike.

This 2001 edition of what I consider to be a classic BDSM book is expanded and improved. An additional 69 pages (I don't think that was on purpose) covers changes in the community and resources that are available. It focuses not solely on how to get what you want as a bottom but also how to give your top what they want -- this balance of advice can be difficult to find but Easton and Liszt have done a great job here. There are 10 different chapter that cover everything from basic "how do I feel about this" to "how to do X" to more rare and less physical aspects of some peoples' scenes. It is not geared toward any gender or orientation except it does not cover 24/7 or TPE couples in any way -- but those are advanced subjects and practices anyway. This is a book I have both bottoms and tops read in my household and among those I recommend books to. If you haven't read it, please do so even if you've been doing this for 40 years you can learn something or see something in a new light.

Having read a couple of other titles in the genre (but by no means exhaustively), I was very pleased to read both this book and its companion volume (Topping). As a relative newcomer to the scene, it was an affirming and welcoming approach to the psychological side of things, and gives a positive and comprehensive look at our reasons for playing the way we do, and without the increasing pointless status oriented bragging common to other information sources (along the lines of 'real' bottoms do this, 'real' tops do this). It gives examples of successes and failures, from many perspectives and I would recommend it to anyone wanting more information, and in particular, positive reinforcement of our choices.

This book is a great introduction to the world of bottoming, with sections on the choices you have as a bottom, negotiating scenes with a Top, finding a Top, doing scenes and role play, and aftercare. Mz Easton & Listz's writing style is very easy-going and easy to follow. Any sub and for that matter any Dominants can learn a lot from this book.

If you're looking for a partner or to investigate the lifestyle with someone you do not know well this book may be helpful. But if you're looking to initiate this activity with your current partner much of what is discussed is not applicable.

Catherine & Dossie give us another great book. It is short and concise and very helpful. The sections on the psychological effects are particularly well explained. Also full of great info for Tops... my Mistress loved it too... it helped us discuss what my needs were and what she expected of me... I consider it required reading for Tops and bottoms....
