A previous reviewer was concerned about the switch from boric acid to citric acid which appeared to be more irritating for his child. I just wanted to note that the most recent tubes and tubs of butt paste I have purchased (spring of 2011) have boric acid (the original ingredient) and not citric acid. This stuff works better than any others I have tried and my daughter seems to find it very soothing. I highly recommend it.

Always on the lookout for homegrown products (I'm from Louisiana), I was immediately drawn to Boudreaux's Buttpaste when my wife had our first child a little over six years ago. Just to be sure, we tried Desitin, Johnson & Johnson's and a few other brands, but none of them worked as well as Boudreaux's. Many, many doctors and almost every pharmacist I've talked to highly recommends Boudreaux's. I cannot argue with them at all. When my daughter developed a diaper rash, Boudreaux's came to the rescue. It has a wonderful scent, soothes the baby's bum, and wipes off of your hands easily. We recently had another child (a boy) and when we were given a free sample of another brand of rash cream, we accepted it, and then tossed it in our "emergency" drawer in case we were caught without any Boudreaux's.

I highly recommend it. Two out of two of my chidren's rears recommend it as well!

My 101 year old mother is bed ridden and is subject bedsoars. This product delivers. It goes on smoothly and helps keep her dry. This is the only product of this type I will ever use.

My 10 month old son ended up with an awful rash and we tried the creamy Destin, then the regular Destin, A & D and none of them worked, in fact...all they seemed to do was to make his little baby bottom even redder!!! At the suggestion of a friend(who is a nurse) we tried the butt paste...and it really did make a difference...almost over night. Great stuff!!!!

My youngest got a virus that made his diapers smell and look like a sewer. It happened over night and we didn't know until morning, when he was so red he was swollen and almost blistered it was so bad. The ER doctor recommended this over all of the other products we have used before and it was completely cured in about 2 days, I love this product. It does seem to sting for a second or two when putting it on the really bad spots, but the healing is very worth it.

This is very good diaper cream!
My mother and sister both love Penaten cream, but you can't buy that locally here, so we tried desitin and an assortment of drugstore brands. Let's face it, they are basically all Zinc Oxide creams with varying levels of Zinc Oxide in it. They all work pretty good. However, what I like about Dr. Boudreaux is this...

1) It's smooth and creamy. This means that when your baby has a diaper rash, it goes on easily (like room temerature butter onto a piece of fresh bread). Desitin is slightly thicker and penaten is fairly thick, that means it doesn't spread as easily (like refrigerated butter onto a piece of fresh bread!)

2) When the baby ALREADY HAS DIAPER RASH, it goes on easily, and in my kids I've noticed that BY THE NEXT DAY the rash seems to have subsided! It really is that effective as a treatment! The thicker creams stick more and may hurt a rashed bum.

3) The other zinc oxide creams are probably better "barrier creams" as they are thicker and stick to the bum better. Dr Boudreaux seems to absorb into the skin more.

4) It actually smells nice! Other creams have that typical diaper cream smell. This is neither positive nor negative because ... well..look where you are putting the cream!

5) It's brown. OK...this may not seem like a big deal, but when you are doing a quick "visual check" you have to remember that the cream is already brown and that the brown that you see on the diaper MIGHT be Dr. Boudreaux cream!

6) This large tub is the best deal on Dr Boudreaux, the smaller tubes cost significantly more. One problem with this tub is that as you get down to the bottom of the tub, you can no longer just stick one finger into it and scoop up a fingerful!
