Intoxicating,

I enjoyed reading this book. It added more dimension to my relationship with Christ. It opened up my heart to what He did on the cross and what God has available for me in life. Easy to read and follow, not boring.

Derik Prince's book, "Bought with Blood: The Divine Exchange at the Cross" is like fertilizer for your faith. Biblically sound, this book reminds the Christian of the complete, perfect and powerful work accomplished at the Cross. Provision has been made for every need and by faith we can receive all of it. I highly recommend this to every Christian.

Bought with platitudes and presuppositions,
By Alex Songe (Lafayette, La) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bought with Blood: The Divine Exchange at the Cross (Paperback)
One third of the way through this book and it is complete trash. The entire book is about atonement for sin. It takes the author pages and pages of assertions until a definition of sin is offered, but the Biblical justification for the definition doesn't exist in the verse he cites. The anecdote about faith healing is pitiful. After many significant experiences in which he believes in the physical healing he is about to receive for a skin condition, 3 months after an arbitrary "last" significant experience it heals up. This can only mean that those significant spiritual experiences caused the disease to clear up because of God.
This book is really repetitive and the Biblical justification for the theology presented is flimsy at best. I'm sure I could make a better case with alternate scriptures...or better yet, make up a theology that's more consistent off the top of my head without Biblical reference. Someone bought this book for me because I told him I was an atheist. This was the wrong book for an atheist. |
