This review is from: The Bought Bride (Harlequin Historical) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the third romance I have read by Juliet Landon and I'm really enjoying the medieval setting. I usually go for Regency romances but I recently got a bit tired of those and so decided to try another period. The book brings home that it really was a man's world. The heroine, Rhoese, thinks she has independence after her father dies but the Norman King William II has other ideas and takes the land she inherited and gives her in marriage, eventually to the hero, Jude, who is a Norman and despised by Rhoese because of it. Jude is an arrogant so and so and I was a little annoyed at the way he man-handles Rhoese at the beginning of the book but I suppose that was to add to the sexual tension. After their marriage the book follows the development of their relationship as they take a trip up to Durham in the North of England. Jude turns out to be quite understanding at times. I think the sex scenes are really well written. I enjoyed the book, I enjoyed the period and I'm going to read more of Juliet Landon.
