Auction of Love,
By
This review is from: Bought: One Night, One Marriage (Harlequin Presents) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was refreshing in a lot of ways because Cally was a career woman although she came from money she didn't rest on her laurels and she wasn't apologetic or gave the impression that she had to justify her inherited wealth or business success. She was funny and intelligent and not your typical physical description of a harlequin heroine she was shapely and forever dieting (which is a perpetual stay for most women)! She had flaws that everyone could relate to but she didn't dwell on them. Her only downside was that herself esteem was null when it came to her believing that a handsome man could be interested in her for herself and not for her bank balance. She was very mistrustful of good looking men, for good reason, because of her shallow mother who paid a man to date Cally when she was younger and since that time Cally has been very wary of any nice looking guy, enters Blake Mc Kay, who is described as sex on legs and from the word "go" Cally gives him a wide berth even though she finds herself attracted to him and trying to fight it every step of the way.Ultimately the decision to give Blake and all of his sexiness a miss is taken out of Cally's hands when her friend Mel's bids and wins Blake at a celebrity auction and gifts him to Cally. This is where the story takes off, instead of Cally drooling all over Blake and making a fool of herself she does everything to dissuade his interest in her which backfires on her and is like a red rag to a bull making Blake want to pursue her even more. Even though Blake appears to be every woman's dream man successful, rich, handsome and sexy and a good sometimes humorous personality, he too has his own hang ups and demons that he has to work out once he meets Cally. This book on a whole was excellent, it had a very adult theme with honest to goodness issues that people can relate to, the hero/heroine both had issues of trust that they were challenged to face in order to develop and sustain a healthy relationship with one another. It is one of those stories that you find yourself cheering for a "happily every after" type situation, and not to mention the love scenes where as steamy as ever some parts made me blush! Happy Reading !

WHAT A GEM OF A STORY,

This review is from: Bought: One Night, One Marriage (Modern Heat) (Kindle Edition)
Cally has allowed herself to be dragged along to a bachelor auction by her best friend Mel, not that Mel has any money but Cally has she is a very rich heiress, but she has never behaved as one she is no clothes hanger or poser like her ex supermodel Mother a fact her Mother has never let her forget. Cally unlike her tall willowy and beautiful Mother is shorter and with a much more voluptuous figure. So here she is sitting in this room with a whole load of screaming women bidding for the bachelors strutting their stuff up and down the runway.Blake has been talked into doing this event for charity, had he realised what it entailed he would never have agreed to it. His pa was going to pay for getting him in this situation. His turn comes around too quickly, fortunately tens years ago he had done some modelling so he pulled on that experience to get him through this, while doing his stuff on the runway he spots a very attractive women dressed in a business suit looking at him with a disapproving expression on her face, the woman with her was bidding furiously waving her paddle in the air. Cally is furious with Mel she has won the auction for the guy who had been staring at her the whole time he was on the runway, she could just tell he was a player men as handsome and rich as he was always had women fawning all over him. Now she had won him for a weekend. Loved this story from start to finish, it is hot passionate and most of all romantic. I loved both the lead characters they were very likeable. I especially liked Blake he was to die for. A really great read I highly recommend.
