Compared to Tourist, this debut from the french jazz prodigy is a little more down tempo, and his house music influences (so obvious in tourist) are not as instantly recognisable. While the album does have some great jazzy tracks, i wouldn't recommend it to a house fan, as i would with tourist. If, however, you like funky, modern jazz, then this is albumis defintiely where it's at. Track 5 is a standout, the combination of bass, bugle and synths oozes class. This is the perfect Cd for cafes etc, its cool, its calm and its very cruisy. But, then again, its not tourist. But tourist, if you really like the jazzy, down tempo tracks, then this should definitely be your next purchase.

St Germain composes real jazz and real house at the same time. If you liked Tourist and you need more St Germain, this is the record you're looking for. "What's new?" is possibly one of the best tracks ever made by St Germain. Fresh record, get it.

This disc is the jazz I've been looking for my entire life. It is very smooth and groovy, without all the staccato tweaking so common with classic jazz. The music is also not formulaic or bland. The electronic piano sounds great, but the electronic sound is not overdone.
Overall, the music is carefully crafted and restrained in it's execution. This is no ego trip.
Several of the songs are longer than 10 minutes, making this a very lengthy cd, and a great value.

Based on the fact that I'm already infatuated with the phrase 'Saint-Germain' because of PSG, this guy, this group only makes it more intense. Dance tracks for that Deep House sound of the 90's. C'est irresistible!!

St. Germain usually puts out fairly solid compilations and/or personal albums with his own tracks. Boulevard contains tracks that all produced by St. Germain, but did not live up to my expectations. Three tracks are over ten minutes each. "Deep In It" and "Soul Salsa Soul" are great, but the remaining tracks are nothing special.

3.5/5 stars.
