5.0 out of 5 stars Bounce For Joy!
Quite simply, the Bounce movie soundtrack may very well be the compilation of the year, especially the first five tracks. It doesn't get any better than opening with Leigh Nash (singer of Sixpence None the Richer) and her amazingly emotive performance on "Need to Be Next To You" before Beth Orton eloquently delivers a different version of the title track from her last...

3.0 out of 5 stars some great songs, but not a whole lot of variety
First, you'll notice there are few men on this album (Angie Aparo is a guy, by the way). Partly for this reason, this album is a little weak in variety. Many of the songs are ho-hum.

Quite simply, the Bounce movie soundtrack may very well be the compilation of the year, especially the first five tracks. It doesn't get any better than opening with Leigh Nash (singer of Sixpence None the Richer) and her amazingly emotive performance on "Need to Be Next To You" before Beth Orton eloquently delivers a different version of the title track from her last album. Then, the ultra hot Dido track "Here With Me" segues into the much-underappreciated Tara MacLean (that'll change) who sings passionately on "Divided" before the ethereal poignant "Silence" by Delerium (featuring Sarah McLachlan). And though the price of the CD is compensated by these 5 great tracks, it just keeps delivering with music by Sophie B Hawkins, Morcheeba, Angie Aparo and Sister 7 and finishes up with BT, a star on the rise. If you're a fan of great female singers, then you'll soon find yourself in heaven with this soundtrack...you just have to Bounce to get there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't judge a soundtrack by its movie!, February 15, 2001

This review is from: Bounce: Music from and Inspired by the Miramax Motion Picture (2000 film) (Audio CD)
This soundtrack is simply one of the best out there! It ranks right up there with soundtracks such as "Cruel Intentions" and "Go". Almost every song is divine! Track #1, sang by Leigh Nash of Sixpence None The Richer, is a slow, sweet love song. Track #3 is by Delerium and features not only singing monks but also the angelic voice of Sara McLachlan. (This song is also featured on the "Brokedown Palace" soundtrack). If you like bands like VAST, you'll love Delerium! Another terrific female artist on the soundtrack is Dido. Her voice is mesmerizing, and this particular song gives me chills while listening to its overpowering beauty. If you like bands like Our Lady Peace, then check out Track #10 by Angie Aparo. Finally, for all of you techno fans, the last track is by BT and serves as a wonderful song to wrap up this packed-full-of-hits CD. This is a great CD to listen to while driving in your car on long trips! Every song is worth listening to. I can't stress enough how great this CD is. I only wish Heather Nova were featured on it since she fits right in with the other female talents on this CD. One final word of advice: Don't expect the movie to be as good as the soundtrack!

3.0 out of 5 stars some great songs, but not a whole lot of variety, April 17, 2001

First, you'll notice there are few men on this album (Angie Aparo is a guy, by the way). Partly for this reason, this album is a little weak in variety. Many of the songs are ho-hum.

BUT there are several outstanding songs to note. The much-played Here With Me by Dido is a great song, despite its heavy rotation. Silence by Delerium with Sarah McLachlan is one of my favorites ever. It's an ethereal, haunting masterpiece and any fan of Sarah Mc needs to own it. Never Gonna Come Back Down by BT is a goofy, thumping, techno/dance tune with a catchy chorus and a welcome chnage of pace.

But the standout to me is Angie Aparo's Hush. I don't know anything about him, but this song is awesome. It's an emotional rocker with definite pop sensibility and a brilliant chorus.

SO, overall, like most soundtracks, you'll enjoy half the songs and probably skip the rest. Unless you just LOVE Leigh Nash.

This is one of the best cd's I ve bought this year! Except that I bought it because I liked the song from the preview ... something like "I'll be the greatest man of your life..." but this song is not on the soundtrack which is o.k. because it is so great, but if anyone knows the name or who this other song is by please let me know....reese1976@earthlink.net

I loved this movie and generally when I like a new movie I have to get the soundtrack. I love soundtracks because you get a variety of artists and sounds. On this soundtrack a lot of the songs are the same style but fortunately I like that style. I have listened to the whole thing about three times since I got it the other day and I don't skip a single song on the CD. I like them all. It is very romantic and the Leigh Nash song, Need to be Next to You is worth the purchase alone as well as Dido's Here With Me, if you like any of her other songs you are likely to like this one. The rest of songs are great too. I wasn't disappointed by this soundtrack and I hope that you aren't either.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love every song on this CD.The Best Album of 2000, November 26, 2000

I would have never bought the "Bounce" soundtrack, and heard of these fantastic new artist, most of them female,if it wasn't for Carly Simon.I've been hearing great things about the remix of her single,"Our Affair," from Carly's CD,"The Bedroom Tapes."Richard Perry tightened the song, and change Carly's voice on the hook.I'm sure radio stations are going to play this newer mix, even though I love the original just as much. The rest of the CD is Brilliant. Most of the music is Mid Tempo rock, with a club sound, except for the last cut by BT,"Never gonna come back Down." This number's more of a rap mix,and its great, like all the other cuts. The two hits played on the radio,"Need to be next to you," by Sixpence None the Richer, and "Here with me," by Dido, are climbing up the pop charts, like every song on this collection will be.The outstanding cuts I can't stop playing are "Central Reservation," by Beth Orton.I love this artist's voice, its so layed back, and the song has a club fill to it,with a fantastic break, with just Beth talking, then the drums come in,followed by the bass. You want to get up and dance when you hear this second song from the CD.Sarah McLachlan's duet with Delerium,"Silence," with a latin chant,is magical. This number is so relaxing. You fill like your in a dream.Sophie B.Hawkins,"Lose you way," is diffent from the rest of the numbers. Its very acoustic and wonderfull.I always loved Sophie's voice, and I want her back on the charts. My all time favorite cut is "Rome wasn't built in a Day," by Morcheeba.I think this artist is the one were going to be talking about for years to come. When you play this song, you start to smile.Morcheeba has a voice that is so pretty, and the record has you singing along the first time you play it.I could write about every number on this Album. There's not one cut I want to skip over. The "Bounce" soundtrack is one of the greatest CD's from 2000.You will not be able to stop playing it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Soundtrack, November 21, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Bounce: Music from and Inspired by the Miramax Motion Picture (2000 film) (Audio CD)
I bought this without seeing the film. What a surprise! A powerful line-up of artists, great songs and excellent production. This CD really shows how a thoughful compilation can really soar. Great songs from Sixpence None the Richer, Dido, Sarah McCalhlan and others. The star of the show? Carly Simon in a remixed "Our Affair" that sets the pace for the rest of the singer-songwriters. Bravo!

I too, predict that this soundtrack will be a hit! The tracks are perfect for listening to and reflecting on relationships. I personally love Angie Aparo's Hush, but cannot deny that the tracks by Sixpence None the Richer, Sophie B. Hawkins, and of course, Carly Simon are wonderful as well. I am glad I bought this, and would recommend it as an excellent choice for gift-giving or for your own collection.

This soundtrack is very nice, and uplifting. Some of my favorite tracks are "Need To Be Next To You" by Leigh Nash, "I'm No Ordinary Girl" by Anika Paris, "Silence" by Delerium featuring Sarah McLachlan, and "Here With Me" by Dido. I also love the songs by Sophie B. Hawkins, Carly Simon, and Angie Aparo. "Rome Wasn't Built In A Day" is a very perky song, and "Never Gonna Come Back Down" by BT is cool. This is my favorite soundtrack of all time! It's just a lovely cd to listen to, and I'd strongly recommend it.

ok, there was a song in the scene where they take the kids to the waterpark in palm springs - it's an old soul song that i don't know the title of or who recorded it originally, so if anyone can help me identify this song, i would be most grateful! the lyrics are something like "you may not drive...a cadillac..." thanking YOU in advance.....
