5.0 out of 5 stars Very impressed!, July 24, 2010
This review is from: Bounce: Movement! (DVD)
I bought all 5 volumes directly from Spectrum Connections for a very reasonable price. I am a mom of 3-year old autistic twins and we all love "Bounce" DVDs. They are truly professionally made, engaging children to learn important words and concepts while having fun moving. I was so happy to see that my low functioning non-verbal son who does not care about DVDs in general, was watching kids run and jump, and was smiling. I really enjoy listening to Elizabeth's songs myself, she has a beautiful voice and amazing personality. I am grateful to be able to find "Bounce" and would like to thank Spectrum Connections for producing such a wonderful educational and entertainment resource targeted to autistic children. I highly recommend "Bounce" DVDs!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Very Best!!, May 16, 2009

Elizabeth Balzano is a genius when it comes to producing highly- entertaining, educational, stimulating musical therapy for children. I own all of her videos and my 20 month old son with a mild speech delay has benefitted from them greatly. His communications skills have improved and he has become less frustrated because he remembers key phrases or ideas from the songs. He absolutely loves her and watches her videos over anything else. As a parent, I find most children's video's (Baby Einstein, etc.) extremely irritating, but Elizabeth is so warm, genuine, fun that she's not ever hard to watch. I have all of her music on my Ipod and play the songs for my son when he gets fussy in the car. What a wonderful line of videos!! I think most young children respond better to musical therapy than to typical baby videos with colorful inanimate objects spinning around in space. I'm pretty sure I read about a recent study by the APA suggesting that sitting your child in front a television to watch those god-awful Baby Einstein movies does more harm than good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for ALL Kids -- a Lot of Fun and Great Songs, September 26, 2008
This review is from: Bounce: Movement! (DVD)
My child is not even on the spectrum, but the Bounce DVDs are a huge hit in our house. Elizabeth's songs are fantastic -- they don't drive you nuts like other kid-tunes. And the themes of all the DVDs teach coping skills and behaviors that can benefit ALL children. It is so nice to see a DVD like this that actually uses REAL kids rather than wall-to-wall cartoons and none of that strange, psychedelic animation that seems to be the trend. If your child is a late talker, or just shy, or just likes great music to jump around to, then the Bounce DVDs are the best that money can buy. How many ways can I praise this series? Can I give it more stars than five? And when on earth are they going to add more episodes?? Kids and parents are waiting...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, July 19, 2008

I bought the entire series of these DVDs & I am thrilled with the quality. I originally bought these for my son who has severe autism (7 yrs), but realized that these are great for his typically developing sister (2yrs) as well.
The creators of this series really do understand language acquisition & the need for children to be able to generalize skills. I especially love "Routines" & "Let's Go" because target skills are presented in many different common settings familiar to children.
Elizabeth is a talented music therapist with lots of energy & the children in the videos are great models when they are performing tasks. There is much research being done on video modeling for autistic children & the data is showing that our kids really do benefit. However, the Bounce series is certainly NOT just for autistic children! I recommend these to my colleagues who have typically developing toddlers (I am a Speech Therapist).
I just have to mention that my son (who is minimally verbal) asked me for "Balloo, please" the other day, and my heart melted :)
