Introduction
In the summer of 1998, as our family traveled, talking about poems and the idea of a book of poems, we were suddenly struck by the thought that we had never heard a jump-rope rhyme with a Bible story as its basis. As the discussion continued, it grew into a plan to try to create some. During the next several weeks, the idea grew and grew, with the potential becoming clearer and clearer. Since I could remember jump-rope rhymes that I had played in my childhood, it seemed that Bible stories and principles learned in rhymes might also have a lifelong impact. My daughters, Jessica and Britni, and I began to write thoughts, ideas, and rhymes. As we refined the rhymes and shared them with others, we realized we were creating some fun and creative ways to learn Bible stories, verses, and principles.
God blessed this endeavor in ways that continue to amaze us-the way he continued to give us ideas for rhymes, the way he helped us find a publisher, and the way he enabled us to meet deadlines. Our hope and prayer is that this book can be used to enrich children's lives and to implant love for Christ through learning while playing these rhymes and games.
