The Flaming Sybil,
By
This review is from: Bound by Flame (The Dark Crescent Sisterhood) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the second book in the Dark Crescent Sisterhood series. It stars my favorite sybil of them all. The aggressive, hot tempered, light your shoe laces on fire sybil... Cynda. I love her. This story is about her and Nick, you know Creed's twin brother who is also a Curson.
While Riana and Creed are blissfully happy, Cynda keeps lighting Nick on fire. On the other hand Nick doesn't have a nifty tattoo like his brother to control his Asmodai half, it's just through his own self control. Which ironically Cynda's fire and smoke is threatening. More sybils die, Asmodai keep popping up like a never ending army, and Cynda just might stop flaming long enough to fall inlove. This book starts out faster and much better then the first book. It is great and I absolutely love how Nick handles Cynda's temper tantrums "stop smoking or you'll give away our position." :) This is a great book and I can't wait for Bound by Light! Definitely a recommend.

This review is from: Bound by Flame (The Dark Crescent Sisterhood) (Mass Market Paperback)
Happy to say that I picked this book up and read it in one day, the book was exciting from the first page one and beyond. Loved the interaction between Nick and Cynda. I also enjoyed the more detail in how the Triad works and the connection deepens between the Triad Sisters and the Lowell Brothers. Someone is out killing Fire Sybils, and Cynda is the target, can Nick save her? The side characters are vey endearing and playing heavily into the story. Please read this series, you will enjoy it. Now eagerly waiting to read Merrilee and Jake, the the third Lowell brother. Really enjoyed this book and the previous one.

Weak Character Development & Annoying Heroine,
This review is from: Bound by Flame (The Dark Crescent Sisterhood) (Mass Market Paperback)
I read this book back to back w/ the first book in the series. Compared to the first book, the follow was a disappointment.
I could not like the heroine, Cynda, the Fire Sister. In the first book, she narcs on her sister to the Mother superiors. In this books, when she is in a similar situation, she keeps everything secret. When her sisters find out, Cynda wants them to support her unlike how she supported Riana in the first book. I just found this character distasteful. She appeared to be very immature, constantly letting her powers out of control and burning her clothes the room or other people as a consequence. Storywise, someone is killing off all the Fire Sisters. So Nick, Creed's twin cop, is guarding her. There is an instant attraction between the two, but the Mother Superios are against any type of union w/ them. Ovearll, I did not like this story. The heroine was annoying, the hero was underdevoloped. Mostly what I got out of the hero, Nick, was that he was suppose to be cool and in control of all his powers and of Cynda. He didn't appear to have that much of a personality other than not wanting to get his new brother Jacob killed. The love scenes between the two were also very lacking. Plotwise, there were alot more weakness in theis story then the first book. No further details about the Sisterhood history was given; finding a sister of the Water element for the first time in centuries was mentioned in a couple of lines even though the character is one of the main characters; no real history or details about the Lowell brothers was given either. I would only recommend this book if you wish to continue on the series. I will still likely get the 3rd book about the Wind Sister, because both the heroine and the hero appear different and interesting. But I hope the 3rd book will be better plotwise. I do not plan on keeping this book, it will immediately go to the used book store as this book will likely never be re-read by me.

Cynda will burn you to your core...,

Cynda Flynn is a regular fire bug, because it's her choice weapon. Fire flows through Cynda's veins as true as the blood. She is the pestle of her triad, and will do her part in protecting the innocent. She is always prepared for battle. This time she's unprepared, and it's all due to an undercover cop from the NYPD Occult Crime Unit, Nick Lowell. Nick is no ordinary man, in fact, he's half-demon as well, and hotter than any flame Cynda can produce. She doesn't understand her feelings for him, but she's determined to find out what he has over her.
Nick knows how to control his demon half, with a lot of self-control and steel will. He likes to think he's unbreakable, after working with the deadly Legion cult for five years, if the most evil of people can't break him, surely he can't be broken. He learns he's not made of stone, and his soft spot is Cynda Flynn. He's determined to find the evil source that is destroying fire Sybils like Cynda. Bound by Flame is book two in the Dark Crescent Sisterhood series, and even better than the first installment. I personally loved Cynda's character, especially her power over fire. Reading about a characters emotions can sometimes be a little confusing, but with Cynda, her flames speak for her. When she's angry, you know it, because half the city can go up in flames around you. It might well be the case if she's in a passionate tussle with one Nick Lowell. Anna Windsor makes a great story, filled with lots of action and just enough romance to keep you interested. I personally had a hard time putting this book down, and would recommend it to all paranormal romance readers. The story of the Sibyl is original, and full of a history of many cultures, all coming together to fight the forces of evil. I honestly can't wait to see how this story progresses in the third installment, Bound by Light, where we will learn the story of Merilee Alexander, the third Sybil of this fantastic triad.

This is the first book I read in this series and could not connect with Cynda or Nick or anyone. I have started in the middle of other series before, but this book did not help the reader to fall in love with the characters. I also don't understand Cynda's powers. Fire has very specific behaviors and as powerful as Cynda's supposed to be, she never has control. I put the book down in the middle and am now returning it.

I have never reviewed a book before but I read constantly and am always looking for new authors. I picked this up and thought I,d give it a chance and I'm really sorry I did. I hate to give a bad review, but actually started to fall asleep reading this book and that never happens to me!! I didn't red the first book in the series and from the reviews I've read the first book is pretty good but I have to say that this book isn't worth the time or the money. I couldn't even finish it which I always try to do no matter how bad the book. All that I learned in the 3 chapters that I was able to complete is that Cynda is a Sybil warrior who can't even control her own powers...LAME!! I'm supposed to believe that she's supposed to defeat all manner of bad guys? She can't even hold on to her sword.
So, I'm sorry but this story didn't do it for me. I'd much rather be reding something else even more exciting. Maybe my voters pamphlet.

I happened to pick this book up in the supermarket, and BOY!!! Its a hot one! I love a book where there's good, steamy romance AS WELL as a good storyline, and Anna Windsor has managed to do both! I litterally stayed up to 7 in the morning to finish reading this book. I can't wait to read the third book in the series! HIGHLY recommended!

While not as good as the first, this was still a great book. This showed another facet of the triad the makes up the team of women. While Riana in the first book was the mortar that provides stability for her team, Cynda it the complete opposite. Cynda a fire Sybil who is as fierce, as her fire is hot. She is a volatile mix of loyalty to the code of the sisterhood and her emerging feelings for Nick Lowell. Nick had previously been uncover in a Legion household trying to find out their plans. Nick, who happens to be Creed's twin brother is also more than he seems.
It seems the Lowell brothers can't help falling for this women. The chemistry between these two is so hot. Their clothes are in peril of melting off every time they come together. In this book, the author gives us more information on the Legion and their plans for the world and for the Sisterhood. In addition, you get to find out more about Jake and what has been going on with him since his appearance in book one

This is the second book in a new trilogy The Dark Crescent Sisterhood. This story features Cynda, one of three Sybils. Her element is fire. She literally smokes. Her love interest is Nick Lowell, NYPD detective and half human, and half curson. Someone is killing fire Sybils all over the world. Cynda and Nick must find out who and why the fire Sybils are being destroyed. Overall, I enjoyed the book. There was plenty of action and interesting characters. I had to wade through the love scenes because I really didn't feel them as a couple. The flaws I found were mainly with Cynda's character. I didn't get a real feeling with her like I had with Riana in Bound by Shadow. Nick's character was also a little lacking. But the books action and story line of Nick's brother Jake, whom you don't know if he's a good guy or bad guy, made it worth the read. It all came through in the end with a bang! Overall, not as strong as the first but still very good.

LOVED this one as much as Bound by Shadow,
This review is from: Bound by Flame (The Dark Crescent Sisterhood) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ok, it's not very often that a sequel can live up to the 1st in a series when it is as fantastic as the first in this series The Dark Crescent Sisterhood was, but it did! After reading '...Shadow' and loving every minute of it, I was so looking forward to '...Flame' and I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! I literally finished this book in one night, I could not put it down. I love how Cynda 'smokes' when upset! I also love the connection between all the characters. Especially Nick and Cynda. My heart broke for her in the first of the book, when her....whoops, almost spoiled it! Very much recommend BOTH the books in this series so far. Anxiously awaiting Bound by Light.
