Book Description

Genre: BDSM, LGBT Historical Fantasy Paranormal

England, 1817. Ex-soldier Melmoth Brien returns to his ancestral home in the ancient Greenwood, intending to retrieve his family’s valuables and get the hell out of there. When he’s beaten to it by Scarlet, a young woodsman turned thief, Brien overpowers him and ties him up, demanding he help get the family fortune back by leading him deep into the forest. The flash of sexual fire between them is undeniable, but a force more powerful than rivalry or lust is ratcheting up the tension.

Brien’s family are Protectors of the Greenwood, a responsibility he has discarded like every other in his life. To Scarlet, whose very life-force is bound to the Greenwood, this makes Brien a traitor. He would use anything, even his body, to drive him away. After all, a traitor may stir the fouler Spirits, who will demand blood. And Scarlet knows he is marked for sacrifice...

Lured ever deeper into a realm of ritualized sex and magic, bondage and blood, the fighting gives way to rampant lovemaking, but Scarlet needs more than just sex to survive. Can Brien admit his identity as a Protector and bind his underling forever, or will the Greenwood Spirits enslave them both?

Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: BDSM theme and elements, dubious consent, male/male sexual practices, ritualistic sexual practices, ritualistic impalement, sex in partly shifted tree form, violence, voyeurism.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved this book October 9, 2011

This book was a lot of fun, one of the things I most look for in the books I read. The characters meet with a bang and never really learn how to get along without more bangs, take that as you will :3 I love it when there are honest to god sparks. Chars that get along and all are fine and fun in their own way, but it's the stubborn ones that clash and clash until they don't that are always my favorite.

Loved the world building as well--it's an historical setting, but you're only given a small taste of that, really, because the book is more about a world that has never moved forward like the rest. The author does an amazing job building that lost world, too. It did not come off silly or contrived, which is my usual fear with these sorts of settings.

Favorite parts: scaring the intruders, and the dancing scene later. The scaring was hilarious and the hot; the dancing was just beautiful and sensual and perfect.

Excellent book, can't wait to read more by this author ^__^

5.0 out of 5 stars Strange But Interesting November 20, 2012

I found this book very interesting. The fantasy world the author has created is different from any other I have run across, with characters that fascinated me. It is a strange book in a way that I can't quite define, but if you enjoy exploring a new fantasy world, I recommend it highly.

Kay Berrisford - Bound for the Forest (The Greenwood #1) {Reviewed by Don @ Hearts On Fire Reviews}

The world building in this book was absolutely excellent. The myths and lore that Ms Berrisford spun through out the story were worth reading alone. Melmoth Brien is deeply in debt so returns to his ancestral home which he hates deep in the Greenwood of England. When Brien arrives at his ruined home he finds that a young man named Scarlet has beaten him to the family jewels and other well hidden treasures and is about to set the estate ablaze. The year is 1817 yet this book does not read like a historical book but more like a fae story as almost all of it takes place in the Greenwood where time pretty much stands sill. Brien and his sister Jemima are the last of a long line of Protectors of the Greenwood but Brien does not want the duty and winds up being branded as a traitor. Scarlet and Brien have a lust/hate relationship going but Scarlet is unable to leave the Greenwood as it is his life force. The good versus evil theme runs heavily through the story and Scarlet is very caught up in it which makes his character interesting. The sex and the BDSM are hot enough to scorch your ereader and are tied to the story line. This book has it all from druid priestesses to talking spirit trees to murder. The characters are well developed and plot twists and turns abound but the HEA ending is spot on. I am looking to forward to book two in this well written series.

More About the Author

Hi there! Thanks for clicking - so who am I?

My name's Kay, and I write m/m romance, mainly fantasy and paranormal, with lots of hot sex and a sprinkling of BDSM. I am the author of the Greenwood series - Bound for the Forest, Bound to the Beast, and Lord of the Forest, all published by Loose Id.

These three standalone m/m romances are interlinked by my fantasy version of the English Greenwood, in which all are set. The world is inspired by forest lore, especially the myths and legends of the New Forest, which is near where I live in Hampshire, UK. The Greenwood is a dreamlike world rich with magic, fairies, mystery, sweet and evil spirits, action, fighting, and passionate lovers. I've had a lot of fun writing it and I hope you will enjoy exploring it too.

I live with my beloved "other half," in a very small flat that blesses us on occasion with outbreaks of moths and mould. When we aren't both madly working, we enjoy drinking wine, visiting castles and gorgeous countryside, and stalking cats and greenfinches. I love cats, but because our home is so small, I have to moggy-share with my parents. My cat Siena (pictured) lives with them. We also travel a lot. My favorite cities are Melbourne, Venice, and Berlin -- plus York and London (I went to uni in the last two.)

I was once okay at tennis and have forgotten how to play the violin and piano. I currently jog -- but not very far -- and enjoy reading all kinds of romance and long, rambling historical novels big enough to commit murder with.
