5.0 out of 5 stars Skinlab shines
I first purchased "Disembody: The New Flesh" a few days ago and have now collected every Skinlab album. This is their worst, but yet it still is one of the greatest beduts of all time. Amazing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Skinlab - 'Bound,Gagged And Blindfolded' (Century Media)
Skinlab's first of three(3)albums.Although this CD simply didn't do all THAT much for me,I'll be honest and say that 'Bound...' tends to flow with sort of an atmospheric moodiness(if you would)with intense heaviness.Best cuts this disc had to offer were "When Surface Comes To Pain","Race Of Hate","Paleface" and "Ten Seconds".An okay alternative metal release,you...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent CD, March 10, 1999
Skinlab definately knows the tricks of the trade. Incorporating Machine Head like sounds with a hardcore vibe of that of earth Crisis and Hatebreed and even some elements of Slayer, Skinlab is a must buy. Best tracks are 1, 2, 7, and 9.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nicely Heavy, May 9, 2001

Skinlab have a sound that most any heavy metal fan can get into. The guitar is out in front & very heavy, and almost all of the songs sound good. My personal favorite is "Paleface", but there are many other good ones on this CD. I guess the band that they can be most closely compared to would be Machine Head; however, this band's music is definately slower and a lot darker then MH.

"Bound ..." is the better of their albums. If you like this one, though, you will definately like "Disembody". Both are among my favorites.

4.0 out of 5 stars MACHINE HEAD CLONES THEY AIN'T!!!, April 14, 2001
By A Customer
Skinlab are an incredibly heavy, brutal Bay Area force who unfortunately are constantly referred to by ignorant metal heads as Machine Head clones. Personally i prefer Machine Head over this band, but that is not to say that Skinlab are a serious force to be reckoned with in modern heavy music. Skinlab leave the majority of the nu metal scene pale by comparison as they return to a traditional style of heavy metal, with pummelling beats, heavily distorted, downtuned basslines and brutally heavy guitar riffs which occasionally can draw comparisons to their Bay Area rivals signature sound, but for the most part create a sound which is also distinctly their own.

Skinlab's second CD is a more accomplished piece, while their third album "The Revolting Room" (coming soon) should further establish this band in the heavy music world. Still this debut is an impressive album which is now available as a part of the re-release package with two extra tracks: "Noah" (demo) and "Paleface" (Live). Remember Skinlab are their own band and while Machine Head released two great metal albums there third release pales in comparison to both Skinlab albums.

Also check out the second album "DISEMBODY:THE NEW FLESH" and anything from Acid Bath, Fear Factory and Machine Head.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great CD!, December 25, 2000
This album is very good. The songs on it are extremely heavy. This CD is pretty slow paced, but rough and brutal. They heavy guitar and dark/hardcore styled voice makes it intense. The lyrics and scary style are pretty original, a must buy.

Sounding a lot like Machine Head, yet with a little less variety and intensity. Still worth checking out though.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST NEW METAL, March 10, 1999
By A Customer
This CD just blew me away. Their music is just so deep and heavy it makes you want to blow out your stereo speakers. It's a definite must-have, and I suggest getting this one before you get "Disembody: The New Flesh." The good thing about this band is that they're not really "thrash" metal, but give new meaning to the word "heavy". If you love good heavy metal, you must buy this CD.
