Love May Be Just Around The Corner...

When Erin Chandler takes her neighbor's dog for a late-night walk through the Colorado woods, she thinks she's prepared for anything--including mountain lions. The last thing Erin expects to encounter along the trail is an elf, not to mention an incredibly sexy one...

Or Under A Rock...

Attacked by a rival who wants to steal his land and end his life, Galan of Longtail Rock is nearly dead when Erin saves him by somehow giving him her energy and creating a mysterious bond between them. Galan has no idea how to break their link without paying the ultimate price, but Erin doesn't mind the enforced closeness. She can't stop fantasizing what it would be like to kiss his beautiful mouth and feel those magical hands on her skin. Galan never thought a human would risk her life to help him fight a dark elf. The more danger he and Erin encounter, the more he feels Bound To Love Her.

4.0 out of 5 stars A magical debut you're bound to love., May 11, 2008
Everyone in Erin Chandler's world of present day Boulder, Colorado, knows that elves are found only in fairy tales and movies, right? Wrong! While walking her elderly neighbor's dog through the woods one night Erin discovers a dying man - a tall, buff, incredibly gorgeous, pointy-eared, dying man - who turns out to not be a man at all, but an elf!

The bond between Galan of Longtail Rock and the land that keeps him alive has been broken by the evil dark elf, Fellseth, and Galan is struggling for his last breath when Erin's touch inexplicably infuses him with energy and renews his life force. A life-giving bond between the two is created in that moment and neither of their lives will ever be the same. Erin finds herself in the midst of a community of elves struggling to hold on to their life-sustaining lands while battling the dark elf intent on killing them by stealing those lands and the humans who are unknowingly destroying the natural habitat that the elves have occupied for hundreds of years. Erin joins forces with Galen and the other good elves to defeat Fellseth but just when they think they have him outwitted, the dark elf sets his evil sights on Erin.

It's a testament to Rose's superb writing skill that I was able to suspend belief and immerse myself completely in this fast-paced, delightful and emotionally satisfying, magical tale. The relationship between Galan and Erin is romantic and frequently poignant while at the same time sprinkled with the humor you would expect when bringing together a practical, independent, 21st century woman with a sexy, sensual, supremely confident elf who has been around for more than 250 years. The crisp dialogue kept me turning pages late into the night and whet my appetite for more elf tales from this gifted debut author.

2.0 out of 5 stars really fell short of the mark for me, May 31, 2008
I was really disappointed with this book. I thought it had the potential to be very good but it definitely fell short. The basic storyline was very interesting and that was probably why I finished the book. I felt the author didn't expand on her characters or details enough to really grab me where I felt I was deeply immersed into the story. I kept thinking it would get better but it didn't. There are many other stories and authors out there that will do that so I had to rate this low. If you are looking for a
easy read were you are killing time then maybe this is a better choice. If you want to feel sucked into the story you are reading and involved with the characters then move on.

3.0 out of 5 stars Easy Reading, March 6, 2009
By
Tez Miller (Victoria, Australia) - See all my reviews
By the title and brooding torso on the cover, you'd assume this is a bondage romance. Actually, it's a light paranormal romance. Kensington, what were you thinking?

I've never read/seen "The Lord of the Rings" and whatnot, so this was my introduction to elves. The ones living in Boulder, Colorado, don't all have pointed ears, though Galan of Longtail Rock does. Basically, the elves have close ties to the land, and they each have their own territory. This opens the way for social commentary involving the environment and real estate, so at least this novel has something to say - which a lot of stories don't.

A New Age (read: hippie) shop employee, Erin Chandler finds Galan near death, attacked by the big baddie, Fellseth, who's nicked his land. Somehow giving him her 'energy', Erin saves Galan, but the action has somehow bonded them.

Why do sparky women chase so-so men? Erin has an entertaining voice, though I dislike her stance on some issues. ("I personally believe depression is fifty percent nutrition and fifty percent mental habits." Bitch - what about crap genetics?) Galan may be good at making jewellery, but other than that he doesn't seem to have much going for him. Thus whatever Erin feels for him seems mostly superficial. His sense of humour only involves sex jokes, thus his comedy needs more variety. Is it any wonder that my favourite character is Kitty Girl? Erin's cat, abandoned whilst her owner is captured, somewhat appeals to me, but maybe that's because I'm a cat owner.

It's easy reading, but not really my kind of thing. Fans of Tate Hallaway's novels should enjoy this. However, the author is a nifty person, so I'll still read her blog.
